That Sunny Day announcement has me all kinds of giddy. Hitting up Riot Fest just for them.

A quick glance at the concert listings in town tell me the 90s are back indeed:

Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Braves' stadium, Smashing Pumpkins with Janes Addiction at the Hawks Arena, DMB, Black Crowes, NKOTB, Barenaked Ladies, Kid Rock, Arrested Development, KRS-One and Slick Rick, GZA (just played Tuesday and pissed I missed that one), Sheryl Crow, Third Eye Blind, Incubus, Rob Zombie, Sublime with Rome, WP...
I still call it The Jake.

I struggle to believe that lead singer can hit those notes anymore. He already fell apart 20 years ago. Plus the other dude left for the foo fighters. Anyway I'll still probably go and hang with the rest of the old alt-rock people

Saw them a couple years ago at the Neptune in Seattle, great show. Popper had lost a lot of weight. Almost thin.

That would be a good name for a 90s cover band.

He sings a bit different on his solo albums. I think with SDRE he wasn’t singing properly and muscling the sound out through his throat instead of using chest or nasal cavity for resonance.

I always thought Sunny Day Real Estate was one of those bands you claimed to like to impress a girl. Kind of like a worse version of Dashboard Confessional.

Isn't one of the primary reasons for life itself to impress someone enough to want to have sex with you? Not all birds like the same music.

Didn't straight men's infatuation with anal sex happen in the 90s also? Never quite understood how that happened. Some kind of rebellion against feminism or something. Or just xxx porn addictions.

Saw them quite a few times at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. Popper had just gotten into a motorcycle accident. Also in that same area he sat in with Phish. He was in a wheelchair covered by a blanket hiding until the time to jump in and jam. No one had a clue. Was a great gag.

90s also marked the end of groovy tailor made background porn music. Bring back the love.
