    Triple Crown 2022

Here we go, new year, new thread.

Also new, no Bob Baffert. But two of his horses will be in Louisville this Saturday.

If it doesn't rain, the horse from Japan (Crown Pride) has a decent chance at 20/1

Seems like a really even field this year with only 4 out of the 20 horse field standing out to the expert handicappers.

Just realized the Derby is tomorrow. Not a huge fan but I do watch and enjoy it most years, I'll be watching tomorrow. I read Mo Donegal might be the favorite if he wasn't in the 1 slot, maybe some good driving can get him clear, that's who I'm picking.

Kentucky horse, Tiz The Bomb, is my ride.

5 wins in 8 starts. Over a million in earnings, and a 30-1 opening line.

    Let’s go.

That was pretty cool. And yeah that horse is nutty but it obviously works for him. The whole thing after the race with the other horse was funny.

    Great ride by the jockey.
“Nutty”, that horse was still ready to go after the race, he was stoked.

He was definitely amped up and ready to go another round.

I recently read a great book of horse stories by a Yellowstone NP ranger who handled stock in the park for decades. He had a horse he really liked who was smart and mellow, never messed with the other horses. But one day another ranger's horse got put in the corral with this guy's horse. The other horse was known as a bully who would always bite other horses to show them who was boss. So the ranger watched as the bully horse approached his horse, teeth bared. Completely without warning the guy's horse turned and double kicked the bully horse in the ribs with his hind legs and sent the bully flying into the fence. Then his horse calmly went back to eating his hay. The bully horse sat in the corner unmoving for the rest of the day.

My thoughts about the horse going nuts with all the biting was what drug was he on. Then watching the secondary horse / rider (sorry I don’t know the correct term for him) keep punching the Kentucky Derby winner repeatedly I kept thinking what the trainer / owner were thinking. Don’t hurt my money maker. Nice to see the long shot win.

I’d be biting everything in sight if I came from behind and smoked them like that on the last straight.

Horses bite. Just something they do. It feels like somebody grabbed three or four inches of your skin with a pair of angle grip pliers and squeezed as hard as they could. I don’t recommend the experience

I know nothing about horse racing but that was a hell of a kick at the end, and it looked like he got bumped in the process.

One of the best Derby's I've seen in a long time. That horse looked so athletic and powerful, it was impressive.

Maybe before the lane opened up, but when he was in 3rd place, there was no other contact with him from the 2 views I saw- inside the rail camera or the TV view. He moved around another horse at the turn and just had a clear run for the finish.
