Kalico, kahlia tell me the news
Calamity's waitin' for the way to get to her
Rosy red and electric blue, I bought you
A paddle for your paper canoe

Say you'll come back, when you can
Whenever your airplane happens to land
Maybe I'll be back here too
It all depends on, what's with you
    Whoa, that's trippy man...

It's the same story the crow told me; it's the only one he knows
Like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go
Ain't no time to hate, barely time to wait
Woah-oh, what I want to know, where does the time go?

And I say row, Jimmy, row
    Gonna get there?
    I don't know
Seems a common way to go
    Get down, row, row, row
    Row, row

    Lovely to look upon, Heaven to touch;
It's a real shame that they got to cost so much.

What's to be found, racing around
You carry your pain wherever you go
Full of the blues and trying to lose
You ain't gonna learn what you don't want to know

So I give you my eyes, and all of their lies
Please help them to learn as well as to see
Capture a glance and make it a dance
Of looking at you looking at me

The black-throated wind keeps on pouring in
With its words of a lie that could almost be true
Ah, Mother American Night, here comes the light
I'm turning around, that's what I'm gonna do

Goin' back home that's what I'm gonna do

Going OT a bit. Was listening to a podcast with members of the McCoury band.

They say Jerry Garcia came very close to joining the Ralph Stanley entourage as a banjo player. Had that happened, none of this may have been written/created.

ill-advised (former Yeti)- on Althea-- a very large Harley guy walked past at a Frost show, mid song- turned and said "There are places in the universe where this intro plays endlessly," then he went on through the crowd. A haiku?

    I told Althea, I'm a roving sign
That I was born to be a bachelor
Althea told me, ok, that's fine
So now I'm trying to catch her

    on the other hand...

She said her name was Billie Jean and she was fresh in town,
I didn't know a stage line ran from hell.

This poll is from 2015, and found the Dead actually most popular among 18-44 year olds. Since 2015 that trend is accelerated to the point that the Dead are one of the most listened to groups on Spotify among Gen Zers.
