Lone Tree man skis 12.4 million vertical feet this winter at Vail Resorts - ?

Seems like an unreal number to me, averaging 60k every day...

    pfft, I could do that.

Well no I couldn't but I wouldn't even want to. Sounds kinda grim, actually.

Blacketor skied the most days in 2020-21 at Keystone Resort. He said when he’s chasing vertical feet he targets the groomed Starfire off the Santiago chairlift at Keystone’s North Peak

    Made me chuckle.

Jeez. The stupid epicmix thing makes it easy to count. I got 825K vert. But there were days when I did 4 laps in 3rd bowl in CB which only got me 12k vert for the day, but for those of you who know CB, that's a big ski day. A buddy of mine got 2.7M because he likes frontside laps (i.e Banana, funnel, etc.). I thought that was amazing. Can't even imagine 12+M vertical feet skied. Quality over quantity in my book though.

What did this a-hole do? Lap the front side of Keystone, Vail and Grouse Mtn at BC non-stop?
    Quality over quantity for sure.

Grouse actually is covered top to bottom with bumps most of the year and steep. I wouldn’t assume that’d be the best path to EpicMix glory.

It is, however, routinely empty which is another reason why I love it, so maybe there’s something to that theory.

He lapped groomer Starfire under the Santiago chair repeatedly. That chair is the fastest most vertical least crowded in the Colorado Vail group.

If that’s true, that is truly sad.

This is like measuring vacation quality based on the number of episodes of CSI you watched.

There's a couple guys that go for max vert at the local hill. They essentially ski the same 2-3 groomers all day, every day, all season. And on weekends, they'll go night skiing and ski the 2-3 groomers that are lit to add to their vert count for the day.

I think the record at our hill is around 8 million feet, but that's in a shorter season than the summit county areas.

The whole thing seems entirely miserable.

That is skiing. This guy is OCD losing the vibe.

PS. Nick. What happened to your self certification in 2012?

I'll admit I check my stats on Epic Mix because they're there. I figure a good full day for me is around 30K feet typically.

Any time there's something like this that is tracked there are going to be people who take it to the extreme. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

What else does he have to do? Apparently nothing. Sounds lovely to me.

Now if the app could measure degrees of steepness plus vert, I bet this guy would end up middle of the pack. At least here.

a 15 min ride maybe 5 min down on an easy blue run at the local hill, the speed of the fixed chair is what determines how many ' you can knock off in a day and it wasn't that hard to do > 30,000 ft but its pretty boring & pointless
