Marker Kingpin Heel Piece Sheared Off (at the most inopportune time)

So last week, as we jumped into the Slot Couloir, my buddy's kingpin heel piece decided to shear clean off as he was hockey stopping; sending him tumbling for his life down the couloir. Luckily he only ended up a sprained ankle, but the trek out was not fun.

Has anyone seen something like this happen on the Kingpin or any other tech bindings? I initially thought he had a prelease, but I was wrong. The sheared off part is plastic, wonder if that had anything to do with it? Thoughts on what to do next? It's out of warranty so Marker told him to pound sand.

Bonus pic. Had my camera out, so here's him sliding for his life:

Impressive. Never seen that before on a Kingpin although I've seen a couple of very well used older model Dynafit heels were the turret has sheared off the base. I think I've got a spare Kingpin upper heel knocking about - I'll check when I'm in my shop in the morning.

Same here, I've seen some Dynafits and Plums shear at the housing, but no other Kingpins. Well documented, though, and glad he wasn't hurt worse.

I’ve seen it happen as well. Don’t remember if it was the tower like that or the adjustment slide plastic below it. Kingpin is the only binding I’ve seen break in action (I’ve also seen kingpin front pins break on the peak of a tour).

f=ma, I've got a new unused Kingpin 13 upper heel (as pictured below) which you can have for the cost of the shipping from the UK. Standard Royal Mail/USPS airmail shipping will be GBP20.00 ($28'ish to you) and it takes 7-10 wkg days. Or I can send it FedEx/UPS in 2-3 days but it'd be GBP35.00 ($47'ish to you). If you PM me your email and shipping addresses I can send you a Paypal invoice or if you want it FedEx/UPS'ing then I'll need your cell number as well.

But if you want it quickly your're gonna have to get a wiggle on as I'm leaving mid-day UK time tomorrow (Thurs) for the Alps for a few weeks.
