Vail wants this image censored.
We had a big cycle this week in Whistler.
This slide happened inbounds after avalanche control on the Blackcomb glacier.
It was shared by a former patroller who writes a daily blog as an avalanche educator.
Vail ‘requested’ it be taken down.
Rather than educating the public about the dangers of inbounds avalanches Vail wants less beta.
The same day on Whistler a local man died in an inbounds area after an avalanche.
Fuck Vail

You would think that by now they would have learned. There are no secrets.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I truly felt sorry for Whistler, the minute I saw the VR purchase.
Such a great place, such a shitty company.

If I received that request, I would respond with a request that they try to suck less.

Their reason is that they don't want images shared of an incident until an investigation is complete, so take that as you will.
We do know that people will look at photos, jump to conclusions, and spread rumours. Kind of makes sense to me, especially if people (guests?) were involved.
I withhold my increase of Vail dislike until I see what they do after the investigation is complete.

^Sounds like the point is they were censoring a different photo of an inbounds slide, not the fatal one. Asking for the fatal one to be taken down would be more defensible.

I dislike the Vails as much as the next guy here but this is a good point. In any other industry (construction/manufacturing/trucking, whatever) if there's a safety incident a company wouldn't allow their own employees to put out pictures until an investigation was finalized, especially out of respect for the situation if a death was involved in another incident nearby.

Lol, Vail isn’t doing any investigations. They’re trying to create a false impression of safety despite their failure to mitigate properly or maintain closures. Liability releases put all the risk on the skier anyway, we deserve to know they failed to manage their terrain safely.
