I can confirm your presence in Moab in the early 2000’s.
    hah.

That was definitely pre 2007. Love that section. Loved that bike, heavy pig that she was.

Was perusing some old Moab pics and couldn't figure out why I didn't have any of you, then I realized you didn't really get into riding until after I left. I do have some fun shots from Brian Head though.

Care to share with the rest of the class? I wanna see that big gap you did at Bartlett.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Both were already played out by 2000.

Yeah, bought a bike September '07. I remember those Brianhead trips but don't remember a Moab trip with you.

The Notch still exists, but is rarely ridden. It has been supplanted by the Snotch, which is challenging as fuck too. I have a soft spot for the Notch because I cleaned it exactly once.
But the Snotch avoids the rather stout climb out of there.

Great pics! I sometimes forget this place is about sharing trip pics and not always complaining about traffic and camping.

The mushroom drop has a great take-off and a sweet landing but the flat slickrock part right after landing always freaked me out, a fall would hurt SO goddamn bad.

That bartlett's gap was never a consideration to try by me ever. Nice work on making that.

Great pics, CS! Thanks for humoring me. I had managed to block that derailleur incident out, so I appreciate the reminder.

Every year I was convinced I was going conquer the Notch. Then every year when I got there looking down it, was a big F No.

Seems I recall hearing of this new go around. yeah, that climb out was a bit of a bitch.

Here are a few more Notch shots, for nostalgia.

On a more derailleur friendly day.

    This is me. Haha.

I drove over from Fruita at like 10pm and slept in the dirt on the side of Blue Mesa Rd so we could meet up and get the sunrise shots.

Maybe that is starting to change? Beginning in 2023, Utah to require OHV operators to complete an education course before operating on public land.

Some real gems in the comments.

I have doubts that it will be enforced to any meaningful degree, but this is good to see regardless.
