Check out the sprockets training thread for info on intermittent fasting/time restricted eating. I still eat “breakfast” but not until after noon when I have oatmeal and yogurt. The transition wasn’t too bad, but I also like my coffee black which doesn’t break the fast first thing in the morning. Sandwich a couple of hours later and done with dinner by 8pm. The Mrs is a vegetarian so lots of beans, tofu, and pastas. Good rotation of curries, stir fries, and beans/rice dishes.

    What do you eat?

    Typically
Breakfast: 2 eggs (on eng muff or just over easy) or oatmeal
Lunch: large chopped salad w/ avocado or cured meat as protein
Dinner: beef + green veg (tho this has changed over the last couple mos as beef is now way more expensive)

I try to stay away from processed junk, even when I'm baked... but sometimes I get suckered by these in the pantry:

Hi, I’m Jimmy Dean. I sure do wish I could tell you how many hookers I buried on my farm but the truth is, I lost count a long time ago. I’m Jimmy Dean. Try my breakfast sandwiches available in your frozen food isle. That’ll get ya going in the morning. Mmmmm mmmmm!! I’m Jimmy Dean.

Breakfast - eggs 90% of the time. Boiled, scrambled, on toast or english muffin. On some weekends maybe with bacon or breakfast sausage. Our 'big' or holiday breakfast is eggs benedict on rosti's. Instant ramen sometimes makes an appearance.

Lunch - generally skipped unless calories are needed. Anything from leftovers, deli meat sandwich, to soups. Simple stuff.

Dinner - lots of tacos, wraps, and enchiladas. Tex Mex and real Mexican are strong staples in my kitchen, followed by Italian then Indian.

Chicken thighs (grilled or chicken parm generally) maybe once a week. Super healthy veggy soup every now and then. Various chicken curries with rice. Spaghetti and lasagna's are in the mix too. Once every week or so we'll do a 'big' dinner of something braised (beef ribs, osso bucco etc) with eg risotto, or other roasts or a nice steak.

Do something to get your heart going every day, if you can. And realign your expectation of portion sizes; you don’t have to eat everything in sight. The only thing I’ve mostly cut out is sugar and soda and etc.

Between the two, I’m generally able to manage the pudge at 40, even without weightlifting in recent memory (which I need to get back into). I still mostly eat the stuff I like, but I keep an eye on the scale and if I’m gaining weight I’ll eat a little less. I feel better when I don’t let myself get full. Sharper, more energy, etc. Or at least that’s how I coach myself.

And as you manage your portion sizes your stomach will get used to it such that you won’t always feel like you’re starving. Takes a week or two….
    focus.

Get the snacks and sugar out of the house.

Eat rabbit food (salad, veggies, etc) more.

    Eat a reasonable diet otherwise.

If you can do IF, that seems the easiest way to limit calories.

IME protien, as in a piece of cheese or meat (as opposed to the whole fucking package) will fill the hole which carbs and vegies don't

try using a scale often to check fasting weight first thing in the am so you can see whats going on with weight as it happens instead of when you are already up 10 -20 lbs

Fill up with veggies and fruit that has low calorie density (avoid nuts and dried fruit). Eat meat from animals with 2 or less legs. Avoid all packaged food.

Did you ever listen to that Huberman episode about fat loss that I linked to in the Training thread awhile back? If not, go listen to it. If you did, listen to it again.

Care to link it here? I’m interested as I’m fucking injured as well and need something to listen to as well as help with not putting on weight. Plus I’ve been wanting to drop a couple extra pounds once I’m all healed up.
