    Moving to South Lake Tahoe

    Tahoes,

Alright, I am telling Lumbergh today, and will be moving to South Lake for this winter. Any tips or pitfalls a South Lake JONG should avoid? I am thinking of a 6 month lease. Wondering when the best time to secure a place would be?

What is the best resource for Apt hunting? Reno Craigslist?

Any neighborhood tips. For some reason, I think having a Nevada address would be nice (no state taxes), but there are way less places there.

If you have no income, no state income tax doesn't really matter.

That is true but doesn't apply in my case.

There's a lot more choice (and closer access to skiing) on the CA side. You may also see lower rental rates that could offset some income tax benefits of NV. I would recommend the county / Meyers for the non-urban, covet thy snowblower lifestyle. Although there is a little bit of ghetto in every part of SLT - keeping it reeaal! Christmas Valley / North Upper Truckee is closest to Kirkwood, Sierra and the best b/c areas. Heavenly is convenient for anyone, anywhere.

Good luck, hopefully we'll have a repeat performance of last year's winter.
