    Shimano crankset preload cap

I bought a used trailcraft and didn't realize that the crank arm preload cap was missing until the arm fell off riding around the campground. I located an Ultegra preload cap at an LBS but the inner thread diameter is larger than the trailcraft crank takes.

Are the road and mtb preload caps the same size or are they different?

Trailcraft customer service is usually pretty great. I'd give them a quick call/shoot them an email if you're unsure about what works w/ that crank.

some ultegra/Durace are different. All mnt (that I know of) are the same and mid end road too.

Thanks all. Checked with an lbs that had the mtn in stock and it's the same as the Ultegra. Left a vm with trailcraft so we'll preload by hand for the rest of the trip!

Shimano are all the same size ever since the HallowTech/preload 8 point internal cap.
New M9100 XTR is finally a new design.
