Seeing as most people use themselves as a reference ( people taller than me are tall, shorter than me are short. ) he likely means anyone signed up after 2004, like you .

I read it as a pun on "you people" like when you address a black person and you're a white guy and you use some innocent stereotype then you hear a record scratch and everyone looks at you.
