    William Hurt - R.I.P.

First films I remember seeing him in were Kiss of the Spider Woman and The Big Chill; in the former he played a homosexual pedophile and in the latter he played an impotent, drug addled vet.
I always dug his distinctive voice and his strange verbal cadence.

Also, Body Heat. That was when Kathleen Turner was hot. Gorky Park (great book) andThe Occidental Tourist (also good book). Guy was a rockstar, and he attracted good looking women like bees to honey
    ...A lifetime ago.
    I remember his nasty divorce.

I liked him a lot as well, until I read about what Marlee Matlin said about him.

I never thought him distinctive in anyway but “self serious Hollywood actor”. Broadcast News - he’s the amorphous American male news guy, in the self serious well crafted Hollywood movie that made money and was well thought of then, but isn’t anywhere the top ten from them people care about now

Haven't heard Marlee Matlin's name spoken since Entourage when Ari said, "Ehh. I hate the beach. I hate the ocean. I hate the sand but I love sharks. I just signed the girl that got her arm ripped off. Gonna be the one-armed Marlee Matlin."

I'm not sure I've ever encountered this movie mentioned in the wild. Great soundtrack, weird movie, and now I might have to sacrifice another 3 to 6 hours watching it again.
