So if Ohtani matched Pujols' OPS+ average for just one season, that means he had a great season, right? What am I missing?
Well, he is not matching it exactly because 150 < 165. And of those 11 seasons, Pujols "only" won 3 times. Add in the very good pitching and there would be a case in any season, but context matters. Pujols did not win when Bonds hit 73, for instance and he didn't win when voters rewarded other people for contributing to their teams winning seasons in a dramatic way. Unfortunately, value is still in the eye of voter. Pujols won at least a single gold glove, which gives back some of the value of being a dh too.

As far as Moon's argument that greater than 10% of a season total of win shares is more impressive than maybe 10% on a 100 win yankee team, that is a race to the bottom. There is no value of being a 6 win player on a 50 win team. Last is last. Maybe management even stuck a fork in the socket by not trading that player for rooks at the deadline, but of course win shares a percentage of team wins would be higher than Ohtani or Judge (who might be worth double). But why would anyone care?

Still not a voter though, if you can believe it.

Well fuck me, now I'm supposed to fact check everything you post before responding to it? You are the one who posted "165", and now you've edited it to 150 and called my post out for my 165 being wrong? With absolutely zero acknowledgement for where I got the 165 number? Whatever.

Aaron Judge is the greatest player in all of baseball and deserves to be crowned king of the baseball universe! Barring that, at least AL MVP. Let it be so!

    Happy?

not even triple crown winner anymore or does being tied for BA count?

    Magic Number is 3!!!

Best story in baseball that no one is talking about.

Youngest team in the bigs and a younger average age than the average AAA team age.

    In Tito we trust.

How the Guards have summarily put to sleep the Twins and Sox in order from the division race these past two weeks is nothing short of inspiring.

15 wins in last 17 games I believe?

Listening to the crowd, you'd never know he was playing for the visitors. The roar when he connected was electric.

I also believe. I believe the Braves look tired and are coming up short.

Just a few weeks ago they would have been third or worse in every other division, but they got hot at the right time. It’s an impressive run for sure.

We are two weeks away from Baseball transitioning from fun and relaxing into a stressful, anxiety filled shit show. And I can’t wait. The current picture looks like a blast.

And the Guards now have a magic number of 1 to win the Central. 17 wins in their last 20. Their two unknown rookies are averaging about 297 between them.

    Such a fun team.

    AL CENTRAL CHAMPS!!!

The youngest team in all of Major League Baseball just came up and took the division with a magical season (and September, so far going 18 wins in their last 21 games).

Your AL Rookie of the Year, Steven Kwan, had himself a day too with a Grand Slam, 3 hits, 3 runs, 5 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Incredible.

    Looking great, Tito!
