I thought we all understood not to jynx this team. Personally, I'm still a little pissed at the price they paid to unload Cano, but it's been hard to ignore them ever since July. Winning the season series against the AL east and central leaders does have an optimistic sound to it, but I don't think even the Cleveland Browns can match the M's for raw destruction of hope. Expecting them to win 2 games of a series at some point.

It's hard to imagine them keeping up this blistering pace, but I hope they can at least play well enough to keep a wildcard spot. If they don't the fan base is going to absolutely lose it.

Pujols is doing pretty well for 50.

Mets hater here but what the hell has happened to the Stanks?? They were unreal for the first half of the season and now are playing so bad they might not even win their division. Unreal.

I haven't been on here much lately and came back to this thread and see I mis-posted. I am a Mets fan, not a Mets hater. And the same thing that happened to the Stanks is happening to the Mets. What happened to the offense? Still time to right the ship, but very frustrating watching and knwoing if they go down a couple of runs it will be very hard to recover.

Actually no active player is all that close to 300. Verlander has the most wins of any active player with 242 and Zach Greinke is second with 223. They're the only two over 200 (Scherzer has 199).

Shocked that Kershaw only has 185 wins in his 14 seasons for the Dodgers considering his 2,670 strikeouts.3 Cy Young awards, 1 Gold Glove, & 1 MVP especially considering the amount of wins the Dodgers have collected over those seasons ( 1,161 since 2010)

It's not even clear he fired his agent, story I just read said Close's agency is still his registered agent. And did Freddy ever give credence to the story? I thought his tears were just about regret for leaving, did he ever say anything more?

Gottlieb also tweeted on June 29 that Freeman had fired Close. However, Excel remains Freeman's listed agency, according to the players' association.

RE: Freeman

It was lousy timing all the way around. The lockout made it even worse. Freeman was/is a great ball player and Freddie is missed in the clubhouse as much as on the field. Its a business not a game and it played out how it did. Olsen has not been a disappointment although when he fucks up I do yell at the TV that Freddie wouldn't have done so.

The next team issue for the Braves will be what to do with Swanson. He has had a great season and I would hate to see him go next season. Vaughn Grissom has shown a lot of promise.

edit: I half take it back after seeing the highlights. They were already in the tenth when I got home from work. There was some good defense in that game.

deGrom is just ridonkulous. He has pitched 7 games and 43 innings so far. His WHIP is just over 0.5; 20 hits and 4 BBs. His ERA is 1.66. He has 63 Ks in those 43 IP.

If it weren't for the fact that he's been doing this for quite some time, you'd think he's on a hot streak. But this is just normal for him.
