quick dirty numbers suggest the best there are the rays, a’s, guardians. Worst, Yankees, dodgers, bosox. But that’s just win % not including ws wins or appearances. As a return no way can you dismiss those.

At first I thought it said "Front Row Army" so I googled that. This is better.

I love baseball on the radio, something about it just paints the game in a different light.

I had the Guards/Reds game radio stream going last night and heard future Ford C. Frick Award winner Tom Hamilton call Owen Miller's game-tying home run in the bottom of the 9th, which was of course, fantastic.

For some reason the app flipped over to the Reds call in extras, which isn't bad because Jeff "The Cowboy" Brantley is a hilarious dude and great to listen to. He dropped a new one last night that I've never heard before and had to laugh despite the result of the play.

Paraphrasing, in the bottom of the 10th he goes, "the Guards have the bases drunk here..."

    Gotta admit, I like that.
I still call it The Jake.

Last night against Houston Nate Eovaldi retired the side in 5 pitches in the first and gave up 5 home runs in the second. I've never seen anything like it, and neither has anybody else, it's a new record for HRs on one pitcher in one inning.

It did seem a little odd that it had never happened in all those years. I guess I misunderstood O'B. Interesting all 3 times were in the past 5 years.

    From The Sporting News:

The Astros are one of just three teams on that list to hit all five homers off the same pitcher, Eovaldi. The Nationals were the first to do it against Tyler Blazek and the Brewers in 2017. Meanwhile, the Yankees hit five off Chase Anderson during the COVID-shortened 2020 MLB season.

last year the rays went 18-1 against the O's, blue jays went 14-5, sox 13-6.
yanks were a mere 11-8, kind of nice to see them beat up a little on the bottom feeders a little bit this season.

i am staying with a family friends and they have a six year old daughter that likes the sox. I asked why and she said they were the best. when i pointed out that the yanks were in first place and the sox were in last, she goes "i don't think you're a liar but i don't think you know what you're talking about" lol. Anyway I got quite the workout from the mound letting the kids tee off with a rubber ball while i fielded all positions (ie chasing down the street to retrieve the ball while they circled the bases).

even mickey mouse baseball is fun.

    Baddass
That he did it after giving up a HR to the 1st hitter is baddasser.

That he did it against the trashstros?

    Baseball is awesome:

Cubs still below .500 but cool debuts Tuesday

Brandon Hughes debuts in relief when relief pitcher Daniel Norris left due to Achilles soreness
He just struck out the final two batters of the inning and then struck out the side in the seventh inning.
That makes him the first pitcher in modern baseball history to record at least five outs and to have them all come via strikeout in his MLB debut.

Also, Infielder Christopher Morel, who was called up along with Hughes on Tuesday, made his big-league debut, at blasted a HR in the eighth inning. First Cubs player since Willson Contreras to hit a home run in his first Major League at-bat.

    great stuff

They had Fred Lynn in the booth for a bit this afternoon, talking about the day in his rookie season, playing at Detroit, when he had 3 HR and a Triple for 15 total bases and 10 RBI.

Everybody was saying they can't hit but I knew that wasn't right. I think they said they lead the AL n BA in May? Or over the past month? Not sure but they've definitely woken up.

How about Diekman? Guy looks like an soldier in a Civil War movie but he's been nails. And he had his colon surgically removed, yikes. Pitched with a colostomy bag for a while, I was not aware that could even be done. A little hardship on the mound isn't gonna derail that guy.
