This is where Benny’s Hall of Pretty Good, Juicers, and Bar and Grille would be handy.

If Danno can't be happy about that then I don't know what to tell you.

Danno is happy about that, so you don't have to tell me anything.

No, he deserved entry; everyone else doing steroids made him look like a lesser player than he was. Here's something Jayson Stark wrote about him.

For a decade and a half, the 15 seasons from 1988 through 2002, the Crime Dog was pretty much exactly the same player. He never changed. What did change, obviously, was the sport around him.

So over the first five years of his consistently great 15-year peak, he was a constant presence on the league leaderboard, a home run champion waiting to happen. And then, in 1993, everything changed — except him.

Over the next 10 years, McGriff’s production was virtually identical. The only difference was, instead of finding him all over those league-leader lists from 1993 on, you suddenly couldn’t find him on those leaderboards with the Webb Telescope — even though he hadn’t changed at all. Here’s the breakdown:

    1988-1992 — .283/.393/.531
    1993-2002 — .290/.373/.506

TOP 5 IN HR — 5 of first 5 seasons, 2 of last 10 seasons

TOP 5 IN HR RATIO — 5 of first 5 seasons, 0 of last 10 seasons

TOP 5 IN OPS — 5 of first 5 seasons, 2 of last 10 seasons

TOP 5 IN SLUGGING — 4 of first 5 seasons, 1 of last 10 seasons
Not to mention that the 1994 strike kept him from 500 HRs, and had he hit that plateau, he would have been in the Hall a while ago.

I think it's also buried in the Hall's bylaws that any candidate with a nickname as cool as Crime Dog should be given preferential consideration.

And Danno, I'm glad you're ok with Mr. Upton and Kate's talents moving to Queens. We should all be so lucky.

I seem to recall Tippster swearing that she was at critical mass and the end times were near.

Fast forward to present day and I think she's more than held up her end of the bargain.

They're in the "Why haven't they signed Bogaerts?" conversation.

Sounds like they aren’t even in that convo. “Red Sox reportedly have 'not made a competitive offer' for Xander Bogaerts”

Yeah. Just mind boggling. They have the money of the Dodgers and Yankees, waste it all, then act like the Royals.

Will miss Turner's smooth and Creaminess, but he got paid in Philly. Plus we still have Gavin Lux @ Short. He of a .968 fielding percentage @ SS and 40+ RBIS each of the last few Seasons. We will be fine.

IKF hit just under 270 and does not strike out a lot. He can play 3d (used to be his position), SS and 2d. He can also run, which will be more important with the rule change on holding runners. For what they paid, decent deal.
