Was that written by AI? What a word scramble.

Super sad for the dog. Sketchy looking terrain for conditions- I get taking dogs on low angle, but not something like that.

Totally. I saw the post on fb from caic but it’s not on their website yet.

I didn’t really read the article until after I posted it but it’s definitely weird.

I didn’t mean to sound judgy about the dog, I take mine on low angle stuff sometimes too.

That’s like 4 or 5 dogs this winter that have been buried in avalanches. Sucks.

Same. I used to shred tons of low angle pow w the dog but never in Avalanche terrain. People need to get a clue and leave the dog at home. Dumbasses.

You can bring your dog when conditions warrant it, like hopefully spring time.

A very sad thing for the dog. I'm glad both survived.

They were not ascending, but descending 1 by 1 (they thought). Male skier dropped second and triggered the slide and rode down hitting many trees rocks with bag inflated, had to exit with one ski with bumps and bruises.

The splitter (spoke with her yesterday) thought she was in a safe spot with the dog as she was anticipating the wind slab problem, not the persistent slab, and didn't expect the slide to go large. She was buried completely except for her hand and used that to clear her airway, suffering only a minor tweak.

This was an area they were both familiar with, though they hadn't planned to ride the area where they were caught.

Here's another observation related to this avalanche from CAIC field reports. It's from the next day and has photos from a different perspective (from Mt. Peck to the south).

The dog showed up at the trailhead last night. Tired but OK.

Just saw that, made my day. Buddy probably had the time of his life chasing squirrels around for the last few days.

Yahoo! Doggo should disown his dumb family and live out there in the wilderness.

Monarch area slide. A tough year for dogs.

If you think you need an airbag, don’t bring your dog.

Unless it’s a life/death situation and you abandon your dog, you don’t deserve a dog.

Breakable crust with slabby conditions, is about the worst place for a dog.

Meh. If I owned an airbag pack I doubt I would also own another pack that I would bring on safer days. That would involve either owning two complete sets of safety gear or changing all my gear from one pack to the other.

But really I think you guys are asking the wrong question. If you think it's not safe for your dog, why are you there?

    It's just a poodle. it's not like it's a real dog.
