^^^ Right now Ukraine is toying with Putin and mother Russia.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS.

I find a lot of info in this forum. A lot of posters from both sides in the war and a TGR vibe.

Regardless, living in an age where militaries release hype videos is just wild.

I looked at that video as a PSA for Ukrainians and thought "It's about time". The videos of drones dropping grenades into trenches and seeing bodies fly is a new view in war reporting.

The Twittersphere seems to frame today's movements as a probing, testing action to see how russian forces react and who moves where. The Russian claims of 250 killed and dozens of vehicles destroyed are interesting and sound unlikely

That’s not lube, that’s carbon grip paste.

Kyiv says it's all Russian propaganda. Meanwhile, It appears that someone hacked a radio channel on the border with Russia and did an alert that Marshal law was in effect in several Russian border towns near Ukraine.

Interesting comments from Russians on why they support the invasion - https://meduza.io/en/feature/2023/06...-is-losing-one most answers are some variation of “if we lose shit will get worse” without a definition of not losing much less victory

anyways, apparently the Khakova dam got blown, washing away Russians, perhaps prepping for another attack direction

I take that to mean Russia has given up on holding Crimea. One of their achieved SMO goals was to resupply water to Crimea. Supposedly Crimea was in a bad way before the SMO. Presumably, they refilled the reservoirs in Crimea, but now there will be no more water in that canal until the dam is rebuilt (or a big pumping station installed).

Also, the nabobs were earlier nattering about the water supply to ZNPP. Presumably the nuclear plant will have cooling water supply problems soon. It has been in cold shutdown since Sept, so maybe the cooling requirements are manageable? n.b. cold shutdown still requires cooling.

As for military implications, flooded (or exposed) soil will need a few weeks to dry before vehicles will have much chance of launching, landing, or traversing. I doubt that a major water crossing was planned, and any raids can likely continue.

Economically, Kherson farmers won't be getting their water allotments. Also the locks probably won't work so any river traffic is halted.

eta: Al Jazeera report says the dam is 3m high. I expect ZNPP has a disaster plan for this. Even if they don't, 3m should be a minor obstacle to supplying water.

Hey, today they report 30m. And a check of wiki says the reservoir is up to 26m deep (I don't see dam height on wiki). Supposedly it was full.
