I mean, let's get a bit more specific: having profit driven companies collect money, usually mostly from other profit driven companies, some from the government, and the rest from individuals (extra when services are utilized). It is a very strange system we have with incentives and regulation in all the wrong places.

Ukraine only has a kinda sorta public system with large balance bills to the patient. Wonder how that is gonna work out for all the people the Russians have put in hospital (the ones they haven't blown up yet).
