ATACMS are off the table again, for now. Maybe someday. But not today.

Yeah, historically they havent given the orcs too much of a heads up on any of the new weapons system delivery dates, a little waffling disinfo sprinkled in. The Russians have been pretty good at wishful thinking, to their own peril.
I would expect the atacms to start flying very soon.

Multiple reports, including from ISW, that Ukraine has at least limited armored forces behind the last of the three Russian lines near Zaporizhia. Sounds like the Russians are still putting up stiff resistance and have tactically retreated behind the last defensive line.
Large explosions reported in Tokmak too, apparently the Russians had a party two nights in a row. Seems like some real progress is gradually being made.
“Ukrainian armored vehicles are operating beyond the final line of the Russian defensive layer that Ukrainian forces in western Zaporizhia Oblast are currently penetrating, although ISW is not yet prepared to assess that Ukrainian forces have broken fully through this Russian defensive layer. “

I say great, they should have defected. But I can’t speak to the Russian side anymore than I can to the Ukraine. I do know we’re not arming Russia, but rather Ukraine. Which torpedos these reversals you guys like to throw at me. Like with my tax dollars, and yours, . So yeah, I give a shit what they do, and you should too. There are always choices.
They should have made a deal a long time agoc and part of that deal would have been Ukraine joining nato, or nothing. They’d be sitting pretty today with our. tanks in Kiev and F-16’s.
You think they should bet it all or none, which is fine, but I think considering the logistics of Russia being a neighbor or etc. time being on their side, it’s simply a loser bet in my opinion. They risk getting shit now but lose a generation and probably a lot more. You can live with that, Biden and Boris can live with that, there were alternatives. And instead of considering them, you played the traitor Putin shit instead of acting intelligently and at least hearing people out without insult.Last edited by Cono Este; 09-23-2023 at 08:43 PM.

WTF is Cono talking about? There were no alternatives. Putin rejected every peace deal, even the ones recommended by his own people. The problem with imbeciles like Rod & Cono is that they argue as if this is a war of choice for Ukraine. Maybe they're confused by America’s recent history of waging wars of choice in which we could just stop when the cost became too high.
Every time someone says "pursuing alternatives" or "pursuing peace" they need to recognize they're "pursuing occupation" for Ukraine. Cono & Rod should be honest with themselves and with us that they're trying to make the case for occupation. That means concentration camps, rape, systematic torture, kidnapping children, mass-executions and forced deportations for millions of Ukrainians living under occupied Russian rule.

Conehead’s NATO comments indicate he’s learned nothing from this thread. Sad.

I’ll just say again that I believe we should provide all the military support that Ukraine is ASKING FOR. When they no longer want it, when they want to negotiate, etc. I fully support them making that decision for themselves as well.

Politicians, especially, should also stop arguing as if we can force a bargain by cutting off defense assistance when it’s obvious Ukraine will keep fighting no matter what.

How drunk do you have to be for that to make sense? Norm is down at the end of the bar solving all the world’s problems by just imagining new realities.

This is a two way street. If you act intelligently and lay out an argument with reasonable premises, it'll be considered. You may get pushback on bad premises or faulty reasoning. If you then bolster or adapt your position in response to feedback, many will accept that there's a valid alternate view on an issue. Some may still not agree with you, and you always run the risk of insult, deserved or not.
With Russia's wars in Ukraine, you'll find some arguments difficult to make. People don't like killing, they don't like wars, and they don't like invasions. So to limit insults, you'll need to make a really strong, well founded argument. I haven't seen you do that. I haven't seen anyone do that - anywhere.
I have seen some arguments that sound ok if listening casually, but upon scrutiny are based on false premises or false logic. Re "good sounding" arguments that aren't: I'm inclined to trust an academic or expert to make a well founded argument, so I might not think too hard about how they support what they are saying. I mean, they likely know more than me, right? But wrt Russia, we have a few dishonest academics and experts running around. Their arguments are shit, and easily shown to be so, and they don't change them.
Anyway, this is why you gotta accept criticism and adapt your argument or change it. If you don't, you're a fuckhead. If you blindly repeat Russian 'arguments,' you're a rusbot traitor. If you establish a pattern, you're a troll. Plenty of insults available for not acting intelligently.
