You can’t establish a no-fly zone without deploying aircraft to patrol the zone and enforce it. The last thing I want to see right now is NATO/US aircraft in combat with Russian fighters over Ukraine.

Right no fly zones over sovereign countries, but over Ukraine would mean engagement and nato isn’t going there.

To Summit's earlier point, the superiority in the air is laughable--a 40 year gap in many cases.

Unfortunately this means he would skip straight to uglier measures. Let's hope somebody chokes him out beforehand because he is in a corner and his options seem to be eroding by the hour. If he backs down now, his chances of remaining in power are far from secure.

Anyhow, history tells us that asymmetrical conflict is a bitch. If you're not prepared to go full Grosiny or Baghdad "shock and awe", you're going to get mired down on their home field. See just about every example in history. I'd say the Russian military was far less prepared than the world thought.

Every expert I’ve seen has said he has not yet sent in the core of his armor. It’s been probing attacks etc, speznaz, Gru. They say if he sent 5 armored divisions into Kiev right now it would be game over.

I’m glad to see be seeing the boosting of Pro Ukranian stories on Twitter and utube etc. . And to see Russia switched off, but people have to realize the massive censoring going on right now before they think the worst is over.

If Russia goes in, and it becomes a house to house clearing and fight, there will be nothing to cheer about.

They say the bulk of the Ukranian Army seems to be in the East. Which made sense before Putin did the unimaginable going for Kiev from Belarus. But they could be cut off shortly.

I really hope when we were training them we gave them a good plan. We certainly learnt alot about fighting an Insurgency the last 20yrs Hard to tell.

Kiev’s looks almost unprotected. I see no armor around the city.

I think the real goal should be to shore up the west, not let them have it all. But hard to have trained them for defeat.

Don't let anyone with a Russian passport out of the United States, then, when they've overstayed their welcome, let those DHS goons throw a bunch of filthy ruskies in some cages in Texas for a few months while their documentation gets sorted out. I bet those folks don't do too well in the hot desert sun.

Why the United States isn't using civil asset forefeiture to seize any property owned by Russian citizens here is beyond me. The Russian people need to feel the pain of Putin's decision making.

    Dipshit works well too.

I didn't say dual citizens or Americans of Russian extraction, fuckface, I said Russian nationals. That's a distinction with a difference, but you're too fucking obtuse to recognize nuance in anything.

Boy, you're a special kind of stupid. When was the last time a Muslim country launched a full scale invasion on another sovereign country without any rationale beyond "I want to control that?" The first Gulf War? Stormin' Norman got to use some high-tech sticks there.

NHL situation gets interesting right before the playoff picture starts to ramp up. Talk of suspending all the Russian NHL players even though some have spoken up in direct opposition to the at of war. Takes a lot of balls to do that when you still have family back on Russia.

    Just another Stawbunny erected.

Meanwhile at CPAC… in Florida, Trump says he could end Russia’s belligerent war (they all own while the day still support Putin), but he is going to tell anyone because it won’t benefit him.

    Trump finds new lows.

    Fuck Putin. Fuck Trump.

This is such a ridiculous non-sequitur that I'm at a loss for how to respond to it.

You win, Benny. You're a true master of the mantra, "if you can't beat them with brains, baffle them with bullshit."

    The best response is none.

The entire world needed “something” that I couldn’t imagine to get it out of the COVID era and it ends up being the entire world supporting a little Jewish comedian in Kyiv against Putin the Terrible.

In other news, arms for Ukraine from US, Finland, Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey, and more.

Huge Shocker! Germany has done a 180 on 3 decades of policy:
    - 100 bn. euros special fund for defense investment
    - Permanently more than 2% of GDP for defense
    - Lethal arms aid OK
    - Russia out of SWIFT
    - Pledge to build two LNG terminals and build up strategic energy reserves

    This displeases Emperor Xi.

Too bad they didn't reverse the disavowal of nuclear plants.

Yeah, well, tell the last to all of those people who lived next to Fukishima and Chernobyl.
