I don't see a big Ukrainian mistake. Ukraine was supposed to fall in three days, dinner reservations in Kiev, with Zelenskyy's head served on a platter to Putin. But Zelenskyy and a bunch of Ukrainians decided to be heroes, defend Kyiv, and switch to the timeline where Ukraine exists three years later.

A bunch of us posting here are big Ukraine supporters (or US supporters or Putin opposers), but most of the western world is not eager to fight or win a war. Especially someone else's war, and with no brown people dying (according to stereotype anyway). The political environment is not Ukraine's fault. Instead, I argue that by staying and fighting, they accomplished a substantial shift in western policy. A shift that while inadequate to end the war, has been enough to hamstring Russia, and may yet lead to a Russian retreat. Russia's economy and diplomacy are fucked, and will likely be so for decades.

Ukraine defeated Russia's three day decapitation raid. Defeated the Russian Navy. Held the Russian air force to contested air space. Ukraine fought several successful counteroffensives. And they've rallied a bunch of reluctant allies. So far.

    This is Putin's big mistake.

Putin is trapped, only Trump can try to save him. Kill and get killed, ceasefire/withdraw and get dethroned, assassinated.

    edit to add:
Apparently I'm wrong about support for Ukraine. 69% of Americans want military support for Ukraine - per Gallop March 18, 46% want more American military support to Ukraine, 23% want to keep present levels, and only 30% want to decrease aid. Though in the details, it says Republicans feel differently, they don't support Ukraine, and Republicans run the government at the moment.

An interesting, and lengthy, article published a couple of days ago goes a long way to answer the big mystery about the Kursk offensive, what the fuck the fucking objective actually was.

Released by "Lovely Lad" on Substack, it explains that the assault into Kursk was envisioned as the first part of a pincers movement to encircle and eliminate the Russian forces clustered around Kharkiv:

"The Ukrainians hoped to breach the border defenses and then advance all the way to the R200 highway where they would rendezvous with a brigade sized formation from Hlukhiv. After that the 2nd pha/se would begin where the Ukrainian force would push into Belgorod oblast with the assumed Phase line being the Psel river, where a new supply route would be opened by a force crossing the border around Grayvoron and then rendezvousing with the main force. From there the Ukrainians would “destroy a large amount of Russian forces” and then cross back into Ukraine. The Ukrainians failed to reach phase 1 which warranted a change in the entire objectives of the operation into an operation to hold ground."

This article details a series of set-piece battles aimed to quickly achieve initial objectives that ultimately bogged down by deteriorating communications and exposed flanks. I'm fascinated that Ukraine would attempt an ambitious plan like this, and moreso that the operation was changed on the fly to simply hold ground, remaining for seven months and withstanding four separate Russian counterattacks before finally withdrawing.

A lot of us believed that the operation was political, perhaps a plan to acquire a "bargaining chip" to use when negotiating future territorial concessions, whereas in reality it appears that the intent was to inflict a severe ass-rape to Russia's Northern Military Group and either stabilize Kharkiv or fuck with Putin's stability.

I honestly thought it was to bleed away meat from the front line Russian offensive. Above is interesting.

I know noting of the Danish right, but assume that they are nationalists or ultranationalists. Nationalists don't like having their country shit on, threatened, or their territory stolen.

In case this site craps out forever let me just state FUCK RUSSIA.

Shame on Trump for pumping the brakes while Ukraine dismantles the entire Russian military.

Europe is the leader of the free world now and it's time to put the largest army of Europe into the EU.

Zelensky isn’t getting crimea back without the full force and weight of the american military behind him.

Biden did not even give him that, Biden said clearly on d day minus one “no boots on the ground”

Zelensky needs to go, you created a monster, hooked on forever foreign aid that does not, exists.

Cono you are a traitor to decency. That’s your TGR legacy.

Good luck as you move on to some other anonymous website where you get to try boosting your ego pretending you’re morally superior as a cheap and fabricated substitute for actual real life success.

Nothing you say online erases the shitty facts of your life or the deplorable thought processes that infect your feeble drug addled mind. The people of Ukraine are a million times more decent and honorable than you could ever be. Fortunately for the world people like that outnumber people like you by the billions. Vibes bro.

Let this be a warning to China. When they invade Taiwan they'll only be allowed to keep parts of it.

From what I'm reading, Zelensky is playing some 4D chess. Right now he has donnie and Putin in check.

The way I heard it, The Z man said he'd meet any time any place with donnie and putin to hash out a deal... after a cease fire happens. Putin doesn't want one and who knows what donnie wants today. A nap I'm guessing.
