Russia is still able to import parts so they likely won't run out of missiles it appears.

neither the story nor the research support your statement - the report says components identified from prior weapons were produced between 2014 and 2021.

According to Oleksii Reznikov's estimate it is possible that the Kh-101 and Kh-47M2's that have been fired at Ukraine could have been largely or even entirely built since the start of the war. The good news being there haven't been that many fired.

Maximum embarrassment for Putin. Unable to defend assets deep inside Russia against rudimentary drones of their own design.

Undermines his narrative that they are but a tiny muscrat fighting a fully grown imperialist NATO bear.

I know it isn't fair, and Ukraine should have the weapons. But the tightrope is being walked quite effectively for now by the west.

Meanwhile Ukraine can focus their technical skill on continuing to develop deep strike weapons.

    Putin still might outlast us.

When were those components acquired by Russia? And by what means?

"This latest documentation demonstratesthat the Russian Federation is still able toproduce guided weapons such as the Kh101 cruise missile, despite sanctionsimposed following its invasion of Ukrainein February 2022. CAR will continue toinvestigate whether this findingsindicates that export restrictions areineffective against Russia’s indirectacquisition networks, that Russia hasestablished alternate acquisitionnetworks, or that it had been stockpilingenough components before the invasionto continue to produce these weaponsdespite restrictions."

The underlying message is if we're counting on Russia to run out of missiles we're sadly mistaken.

As you literally quote Maybe they had inventory of components? It’s a thing manufacturers do sometimes.

    ^^^ Yup
The Orcs could have scrounged through all of their spare parts bins and found enough stuff to build another X missiles

Sorta like when Dell does their last run of a certain processor - there’s always a mishmash of HDDs, power supplies, memory, etc inside

Rumor that UKR drone attacks are using transponders from shot down Russian aircraft to dissuade Russian air defenses from firing on the drones... so poetic if true.

I think the question is whether Russia can produce enough missiles and artillery shells to maintain current usage rates. The fact that Russia pulled S-300s out of Syria for use in Ukraine and are purchasing drones from Iran shows export controls, however imperfect, are undermining Russia's defense industry.

Remnants of Russian missiles fired against Kharkiv. It's remarkable how even though Russia is throwing everything it can at Ukraine, depleting stockpiles of its best most advanced weapons, Russia is still losing the war.

Lots of drugs are illegal in the USA, and cannot be imported, but can you still get them?

Russia IS getting a lot of what they need, by hook or by crook, as money screams, and there are oodles of immoral people that need to sell things. Like the Iranian tyrants.

Cash is king. Where there's cash to be made, their is a will and a way. Besides, Russia a mafia run state, and the mafia is very good and establishing supply chains on the DL.

In a WWII memoir I read, the GI who just invaded Italy was pissed off to find warehouses filled with cases of Coke a Cola and Gillette razors. Nothing new.

If Iran had been spinning uranium with American-made chips, Stuxnet could have come pre-installed. A simple transform on certain coordinates would let us skip the middleman and deliver weapons that reach Moscow right to Russia.

So maybe disclosure of that list of GPS chips was a scare tactic. All war is deception.

Nope. Research proved otherwise. When our boys landed in Sicily the people were starving refugees and warehouses were full of all kinds of goods. Probably a stash for some Nazi general to black market with. That's how war works.
