I'm aware of that but it's about the imbalance. Using tax payer dollars to save large institutions, while a great many of those tax payers got fucked and lost their houses. The interest rates were also not nearly as high as they should have been given the collateral damaged caused.

Anyway... that's a big indepth conversation so... back to Ukraine.

    Ok, back to Ukraine.

Appears they hit another fuel depot across the Russian border last night:

Finland and Sweden have announced they will apply for NATO membership, as expected:

Relatedly, there are reports that US and U.K. will offer security guarantees to Finland and Sweden during the application process to deter Russia from attacking during that period.

And apparently the war has already destroyed two years worth or Russian tank production (and their tank factories have stopped production due to trade restrictions):

Seems like spontaneous combustion is suddenly a major problem in Russia. Target after target is catching fire.

Spontaneous combustion brought to you by…

Edit - this is my favorite version of the song but Youtube has decided it’s offensive to sensitive Russian eyes or something

They were trying to give the 2nd tank a push. Why they couldn't just dispense with the log and just bump it with the other tank is beyond me. I mean they are armored vehicles FFS. What's a little dent or some scratches going to matter.

At least the dude was knocked stone cold out before he was squished.

Classic Russian ingenuity gone awry. A stuck Russian tank was going to be liberated by a couple Russian soldiers holding up a telephone pole against the stuck tank. Ostensibly the other tank was just going to bump up against that telephone pole and help push the stuck tank free. Only the tank hit the pole a bit too fast and hard and it shot up and hit the soldier square under the chin and he went under the tank tracks.

I would shudder to see something like that going on at a mtn pass where some dudes F-150 was stuck in a snowbank and some rednecks were trying the same solution. I mean that video needs to be in a Russian military manual on how not to free a stuck tank.

Putin is smart to rattle the nuclear war saber. He knows he won't draw it, but he can scare wimpy leaders with it (wimps like Sholz).

He's only really rattling it at the wimps. Everyone else is just ignoring his tantrums. "Don't sell tanks to Ukraine! I have nukes!" HA! STFU Pooty.

He's gonna nuke Germany for selling tanks? Bullshit. And if anyone believed Putin was so unhinged, the only appropriate action would be to immediately nuke him first. Luckily, nobody important believes Putin's empty threats.

But now, even Germany is (under pressure at home and from allies) half-ass supporting Ukraine with some light AA tanks.
