Ukraine’s mig29’s can make the flight to sochi. three of them should go put some holes in Putin’s palace rather than retaliate anywhere else on Russian soil. If the civilians see this a cockamamie plan of their leadership that does nothing to improve their lives, maybe it’ll put some pressure on Vlad to think again.

I'm no military expert, but seems like Ukraine's runways just got smoked and any planes flying into Russia without Russian tags would get blown out of the sky pretty quickly? Seems like foreign intervention is the only way Putin isn't doing everything he wants...which obviously sucks.

They say Kyiv getting bombed, but the live shot behind them shows a normal looking city, no flashes in the sky. (That doesn't mean it's not being bombed, but it sure doesn't look like Baghdad)

The basic argument is Putin's afraid of NATO, and we don't listen. He goes into a lot more detail, including some Ukraine background and support for some of Putin's complaints. Not that it justifies anything, more a Machiavellian explanation, and some understanding how Putin sees things. It's worth a watch.

The poliass thread is full of “this is the Dems fault for beating the war drums since 2016”, “this is just Biden trying to make a distraction”, “this is just Russia defending its borders by invading an area they have a long history with - the US should stop antagonizing them” , “America doesn’t understand that the Ukrainians that are opposed to Russia invasion are themselves Nazis” etc etc
