In other news, Iceman, in Ogden:

Jokes on you, I was a foreign policy specialist before I was an expert on vaccines, that was right after I was a bikini inspector.

Exactly. It’s news. Events are unfolding. As with any major news thread here, posters can either thrunt it into polyass or not.

This is not rocket surgery and has been discussed with the mods before by others. If terrorists fly a plane into a skyscraper or if the US gets sucked into WW3, one would hope we could manage to keep a discussion in PR.

Plus, Bunny promised me offline he wouldn’t post the inanities he’s put in the PA thread here. So it’s got that going for it.

If we could find a way to cut off their supply of potatoes they'd run out of vodka! Talk about severe sanctions!

Lol you have to look to find potato vodka. Most is made from corn or cane or sugar beets, but you can make it from paper.
The Russians stole vodka from the Polish. That's why the eagle on the Polish flag looks east - to spot Russians coming to steal.

And the Russians copied their flag colors from the Dutch because they wanted to be a naval powerhouse like them

I love it. It would be poetic justice and also avoids nuclear warfare.

How about we just give Ukraine a few thousand each of javelin and stinger missles? A quasi guerrilla force well armed with fire and forget SAM and anti-tank missiles seems like a formidable foe that could effectively bleed the Russians dry of sophisticated weaponry.

Europe needs to decide to police their own region, or rely on US power to police their part of the world.

I'm sure they'll act with thunderclap surprise, given their ultra-efficient alliance of multi-party parliamentary governments...

Just like they did in 1990s Yugoslavia when Western Europe had a much larger military than today.

On its face, there does seem to be a collective, "ew, we don't want to get our hands dirty" kind of response from Western Europe when it comes to poo-flinging happening on their eastern side door.

I Guess it’s nighttime in eastern Ukraine now. Anything happen today?

I was watching some independent news last night. It appears a few of the largest and most prosperous cities in Ukraine are inside the territory that Putin has declared as independent states

I remember, a few years ago, Dutchman or a Belgian posting his annoyance at having to ride past an Allied graveyard every morning. The bright white crosses fucked with his sense of feng shui and petty sergeantry, and it just pissed him off having to see that shit every day regardless of whether he took the train, or rode his bike.

I told him the US military, for its part, has made a particular point of not leaving our bodies laying around in other countries since we liberated Holland and Flanders from their Nazi cousins in the last European war.
