The Official TGR Overlanding Thread
It's time to get out of the closet and post your trip pics, debate the top 3 condiment containers to strap to your rig (don't call it a truck please), and which lightweight backcountry wok is best for packing under your sprinter bed. But I'm mainly hoping you will post pics.
I should also just tackle the first question you probably have straight away: What exactly qualifies as overlanding? Is just cruising around dirt roads for no reason but to be out there? Is it overlanding if you are just driving to a remote trailhead for hours? Is it just going somewhere to camp? Rest assured - I have no idea.
I did a 3 day overland expedition this past weekend - rediscovering remote desert roads and, ok fine, they were put in a hundred years ago and are on maps everywhere and some were even recently graded- but don't tell that to my ego. I am a bold explorer, damnit. My next trip is planned to The Maze and beyond and I can't wait.
This camp spot was cool but there was a couple trucks 1/4 mile away so it was crowded.
Stream crossing was real mellow but they are always a good deterrent for others.
Approaching Mars-like terrain
Definitely on Mars now
Buildings confirm my location
Alien paintings
Some alien sidewalks
Proof of humans who visited before me who left ropes.
Anyways, I'm sure a bunch of you like to drive around, sometimes just for fun, and this is your safe space. Post some cool pics and give me some cool places to put on my radar. And put my graded roads to shame with something burlier.

It's actually fucking pathetic what you think you are doing.
Do you even have lockers? Do you even glamp without reservations?
I just want to smash your ethic in the nose, very hard.
Grow up grocery getter, and buy some more data for your apps.

The Official TGR Overlanding Thread
Do I need a separate thread for Jeeping adventures ? It’s totally different from overlanding !
I don’t want to lumped in with the Econolines and 4 runners.

Always amazing when you can be miles from anywhere or anyone & there’s still a double track leading further

I did so much bouncing around in a truck “overlanding” for work on a daily basis that I really can’t enjoy driving remote roads anymore, which is to bad because they can take you to some pretty cool places.
Looks like a cool trip. Definitely somewhere I’d like to visit.

This isn't really just a camp thread - but I didn't think I should post all this stuff in the ski resort parking lot thread especially in winter time. I didn't see any other car camping threads besides very specific "Where can i camp near Boise" threads.
Yes!
I hear you. I have a heavy vehicle and am considering what would be better for small bump compliance when I'm hours into a shit road and I know I have to turn around and do it again the next day. But when there is a cool slot canyon or something at the end of the road it's more motivating to endure.

Speaking of "going to the end of a very bumpy looong road and finding someone else there" - this guy was hanging out and then took off 10 minutes after I showed up. Only guy besides some ranchers unloading horses i saw for that day. How cool would it be to just fly into a zone and not deal with shit roads??

Well it would need a new name because overlanding isn't distinctive and flying around isn't catchy enough for all the accessories and merch.
Riding around = adventuring
Driving around = overlanding
Flying around = ?

Sorry, I think the "overlanding" term is lame. Apparently there's a big world of "overlanders" who disagree with me. Other than that, cool thread.
