Quest for the Least Reliable Vehicle for MontuckyFried

    $17k
We started with a budget of $10k. Boy pays half; we pay half. We saw mostly vehicles with 120k mi and up, each with various peculiarities. So we decided a lower mileage effort was worth it so we bumped the search to $15k first, and then striking out, eventually finding this.
I don’t think we overpaid given the light duty this car has seen. The shop guy we took it to for Independent inspection was ready to buy it if we didn’t. We’re hopeful we can resell before he gets it to 80k mi.
There seems to be a market for these & it is sort of pre-“vintage”. We will garage it, and it will see short commuter miles while we have it.

Yeah. That seems about right. You did not overpay at all. I've been seeing ones like yours go for upwards of $24K lately.

My only suggestion is don't sell it at 80K. Or ever. It's a very special car that is HIGHLY tuneable. Run some good oil in there like Motul or Liqui-Moly, do all the recommended maintenance and it should last a very long time. Don't let MY C30 experience deter you. I picked mine up with over 130K and Im guessing it was dogged on or someone in the past didn't do the maintenance it should have had.

Neat cars! Theyre a hoot. Esp with some tasteful mods.

Couldn't you just pull the fuses for the trailer lights?

Everyone who paid market adjusted prices on Tellurides a year ago must be psyched.

I have had many Volvo's over the years and the Lions share of the repairs have been made between 80k-130k miles. If the car was kept up, it may be good to go with minimal repairs until about 200k.

I saw a Jaaaaaag XF sportbrake wagon roll through town this morning and I'm smitten. How many of those could they have possibly sold in the US? 12, maybe 20?

Guy in the neighborhood has a white XF R wagon. Seriously good looking wagon. Local JLR dealer he got it from had 3 or 4 on the lot pre-pandemic. Who knows if they survived.

If Montucky is all caught up with his current Volvo projects, how about this one? May not need nearly as much work to keep going.

That's my #2 or 3 want since I was a kid. I came close a couple of times but failed. If I had $20k I'd jump on that. I was seeing nice ones with the 4spd/OD between 25-30k pre Covid.

I think the P1800 coupe is the prettiest car Volvo ever made.

I've always preferred the 1800ES but I wouldn't say no to the coupe.

Is it really that hard to get a replacement title in TX? Odds that thing is stolen?

08 xc70 144K, $2K. I think it was phony ad, listed it as a sedan.
