    RIP Don Wilson

At the beginning of it all for me. Don Wilson, co founder of The Ventures, has passed at 88. Every kid with a guitar in the 60's cut their teeth playing this raw riff. Natural causes and 88. Not a bad way to go out.

A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

So good for sure! Saw them play in a bowling alley in Bako in the 70s. I was there with my Okie neighbors for league night followed by some music. I had no idea of what I was watching/hearing at the age of 10 but goddamn I loved it. Punk was popular at the halfpipe but the Ventures worked better with the halfpipe flow imo. May those fingers RIP

    Maybe. I'm no expert.

Don Wilson is playing a Strat. The lead guitar is a Fender Jazzmaster.

Jazzmaster. Don't forget to crank up the Harmonic Tremolo and flog that Brownface reverb tank for all it's got!

according to the wiki they're the only rock band to ever appear on the Lawrence Welk Show. And I'm willing to bet that this is the only Lawrence Welk segment to ever appear in TGR. Except ironically in the next post in this thread probably.
