LBOMH (little bits of musical history)

by which I mean, I guess, live performances with some relevance to something, or practices that were great and got recorded, I dunno, just...little bits of history that you think are cool.

So , Michael Lang, who was one of the people who came up with Woodstock, cool guy it seems, died yesterday. A good dude from what I can tell. Anyways in the obit it mentioned Joe Cocker's performance at Woodstock and it had been easy 20 years since I watched it, so I dialed it up.

Holy shit. Was there ever a person more possessed by the music? Wow.

These guys always had a place in my head for chopping off one of the best, landmarks chunks of rock of anyone ever.

Here's the end of that era, likely fueled by the dark dragon.

Another element of the LBOMH lexicon, part of the transition from folk to rock, a cornerstone performance of the birth of the madness.

Then a couple to bookend the era.

God he could make stuff ring clear.
What a great run, feeling so lucky to have heard some of these heights maybe even worth the pain of their trailing off, like all good things as it's said.

The, following my own musical history, I got kind of tired of over produced mid seventies arena rock, so I curved off into jazz and these k00ks:

Also found these crazies, bedrock of the Euro hippie scene, sort of like a euro grateful dead, but way jazzier. This is an export of the Canterbury Scene which spawned Soft Machine (Miles Davis influencer), Caravan, Wilde Flowers, etc

Maybe not quite what the original intent of the thread is, but I find the “Classic Albums” documentary series to be captivating as a music geek peeking behind the curtain of how some of these albums were made. Can be found on Amazon Prime video.

Heres a sample from YouTube of Steely Dan’s Aja which is a top 10 island album for me.

Yeah I was more thinking about things that happened, events or shows or whatever. Or interviews, maybe.

Musical History. This album cover is interesting for many reasons:
    1) Greg is laughing because just before the pic. was taken Duane received an 8 ball of cocaine and is holding it in his hands.
    2) Arguably the greatest live rock album of all-time
