Bring on the 3rd. Less miss hits or not so right to the lines and she can pull this off.

    Tennis 2022

In my house, we’re very excited for Serena to keep going because each night we’re playing “Who’s in Serena’s box?”
In addition to family tonight, Russell Wilson & Ciara are in Serena’s box.

The cheering of the double fault is weak. Otherwise good game, Tonjlanovic does not give up.

Tomljanovic must have ice in her veins. Very impressive game and nice comments after the match. And oh-yeah… fuck that crowd.

Cheering double faults is not new at US Open.

So how much of that crowd was there for their first US Open and to see Serena and were not die hard tennis fans? Tennis culture and etiquette is going to be de gentrified out of there under those conditions. When the Lakers or Knicks crowd shows up for tennis you're going to get basketball crowd behavior.. Serena did shoosh the crowd a couple times this week so she tried to educate them. No worries though, Rest of the tournament will be the regular drunk NY US Open fans type people..

Watched the Serena match last night. Props to Tomljanovic for her victory under those conditions. She was visibly pissed so many times yet persisted and took care of business. To watch Serena go down swinging was so incredible as she just willed away match points until she ran out of gas.
She deserves her spot in tennis infamy for so many reasons. But, to walk off the court before that poor woman’s speech and barely even recognize her great play and win was sort of odd to me. Thoughts?

Fucking whiney bitch. Did not see the match or her behaviour during. Have witnessed her behaviour for 20 years and have never liked it. GOAT? Maybe, but I'd sure like the ability to watch Serena in her prime play Martina. Now that chick had class.

I think she knew as long as she was on the court, she would be the focus of attention, so making her exit was a sign of respect to Tomljanovic, to let her have her moment. Both women handled the situation with grace IMO.

AI/Electronic line judges reduces the amount of whining all around amirite?? Those very deep drives right at the edge of the baseline really beat Williams. She clearly thought several would be out but just BARELY in she wasn't set to return them.. Play the point until everyone is sure it's over.. She might have won if she had done that..

The Williams sisters never expressed a lot of respect for opponents on court. Not a lot different than Tiger or Jordan. It’s that primal focus that helped them stay on top.

Color me shocked that as the demographics of the competitors and fans changes, so does the culture and etiquette of the competition environment. Didn't everyone at most top venues dress like Wimbledon back in the 50s? To these newer fans, what's cool to do when someone double faults is the similar to what's cool to do when someone misses both free throws. Unless there is a sign or usher telling these new fans what's taboo some of it will be breached..

OK watched Med go down to Kyjrios (sp?) and his imaginary friends last night. Now looking like Nadal's in a little trouble as well..

Yep. Sucks to see Rafa go down, but not his best surface.
