Shapo and Rafa getting some tests!

When it’s all said and done, they need to put Rafa’s lefty forehand and Fed’s single backhand in a museum; the angles those dudes can create with those two shots is other-worldly.

The kid Hinchikawa or however you spell it was tough. Winning the first set against Nadal in his first Major appearance must have felt like a dream.

Nadal is used to this, but when i played a lot of tennis, it was discouraging to lose the first set because i knew i was going to have to play 5 sets instead of winning in 3.

Rough day on the ladies side for big names yesterday.

Venus, Osaka, and Raducanu all lost. Speaking of which, when does Venus get her send-off? I'd have to double check, but she's older, played a lot less tennis in recent years and can't be long for the tour.

Serena plays at 7pm east coast time. Unless Kontaveit gets injured this should be the end of the road for Williams. Although I would love to see the 25 year old Serena show up and kill it.. not very likely...

Serena holding her own. Serving great.

Feel bad for Kontaveit. She has 8 fans in the stadium. She could cure cancer tonight and get no applause.

7th game in the first set will be a killer for Serena. It drained her. She needed that break.

Garcia on the woman’s side looks great. Planting well coming into this. Rolling so far. I can see her in the final.

Krygois moves on . His matches would be a trip be at.

Looks like they're content to just roll through the 2nd as is saving their energy for the 3rd set, especially Williams. After down 3-0 might as well..

    You’re not alone.

I’m on record here every time she acts like, at best, a spoiled athlete, at worst, a terrible human, usually at this very Major.

That said, I’m not grave pissing this year. I can respect her accomplishments and impact on not just tennis but sports and even life in general.

That doesn’t mean that I have to be a “fan” of hers. IMO, anyone who loses a Major in the way she has just isn’t worth my time. The way she managed to overshadow Osaka’s Open win wasn’t any better.

Spoiled brat that became endearing, yes. But even his act wore thin.

Tough as nails competitor that jaws a bunch, sure (Serena, Capriati can fall in here)

“I’m going to shove this fucking ball down your fucking throat” to line judge, yeah, nah.

Kyrgios is the new McEnroe, x5. Love his marches.

It takes all kinds. Fed is pure class. Kyrgios may need to be committed. Love them both.

Never a huge Serena fan, but mad respect for 40+ year olds still showing the youngsters what’s up. It stokes interest and makes for good drama. Hope she makes it into week 2.

Up a break in the 3rd…..

If Kontaveit went back to the drop shot this would be over quickly..

Not very ladylike. McEnroe told the umpire's superviser to "go fuck your mother"..

Serena would be perfect for the WWE..

As the kids say, don’t get it twisted, I’ve never rooted against her. She’s the goat and an American in a sport I love that produces very little in the way of American success outside her family and those that she’s inspired these past two decades.

This 3rd set is total grit.
