Well put, and just to expand a little: the combo of stiffer flex + shorter EE makes for more horsepower and tighter handling like a sports car. Amazing for the right pilot, but they need to be piloted for sure.

The BC120 is more of a "performance SUV" kind of thing. Big sweet spot and really well rounded. Fast and fun, but more versatile/forgiving in marginal conditions (going too fast over speed bumps, to continue the car analogy).

Ya. I was keeping an eye out for the UT122. But the FL116 was a nice suprise! Well I filled the 11X slot in my quiver over the summer, but the FL116 seems more interesting than what I got quite honestly.

UT122, I was hoping would come out later, just can’t swing it now. But I’ll likely throw down $25 to reserve a pair of the next run.

Oh that’s awesome you snuck in on this. After hand fucking the ZF116 most of last night and this morning, you are going to be stoked! The flex is beautiful! 9/10/8.5, tip/waist/tail. They blend beautifully! Along with the RCR profile and tapers this ski will be amazing on snow!
Here is a bases together profile shot of the ZF.

Here’s what I sent Marshal after skiing the FL116 back in may on some dust on crust

    SE116:
I was surprised when hand flexing these how soft the tail ended up, however I absolutely loved how they ski! They are very playful feeling for being 2500g’ish with a -10.5 mount, you can really load up the tail and play around which is super fun. They have hints of EHP, A-star and renegade magic with some of the playfulness of a Mfree 108 but with a lot more beef if that makes sense. Just immediately clicked with these and skied most of the day on them since the conditions were great.
Not super inspiring on groomers, but chalk that up to spring snow and crap grooming + who cares on a ski like this.

In the off piste they are very confidence inspiring since they are so compliant, throwing the tails out sideways in a predictable and strong fashion is no problem which I got to do a lot today with most of the entrances to the steeps being quite committing with the late season conditions. Point it and make sure you can control your speed before you hit the avy debris is the name of the game. The softer flex with the FR build is also awesomely damp, one of my knees is a bit buggered as of late and skiing this today provided a lot of relief which was great. They definitely have some of the surf and heft of the FL113 but in a much easier going package that just lets you slither through moguls and bad snow to the places where you can open them up and surf. I’ve been thinking about it all day and it really does seem like EHP + MFree108 mix is the easiest way to describe them.
I’ll be interested in really pushing the speed limit on them, honestly just so stoked on these and can’t wait to ski them more next winter.

Yeah the EHP + Mfree description is a very good comparison.

So that ZF has a hair more camber than the SE, right?

Yes, a blonde hair more. The SE goes totally flat when on a flat surface while the ZF has a ever so slight bit of camber.

a ZF116 184 would be a welcome addition to the lineup. Damn that ski looks tasty! Seemingly dialed shape, construction perfection, immaculate build quality and killer graphics to boot - man oh man!

Hopefully my planned quiver will mean that I will not need a pair - my days of n+1 are def over

Cheers man! Props to Arild for looping me in back in the Spring; gave me something to look forward to while on IR. Profile looks rad AF. West Coast inspired (to my mind's eye) in tip and tail, but cambered and thick underfoot. If I was designing a 116 wide VCC for Blackcomb, don't think I would change a thing. Fired up to ski em.

Agreed, shape is glorious for the width.

Edit to add: At the risk of Arild burning my house down, I’ll add that I do see the R11 in the profile, it’s just mated to a proper flex now
That'll be Marshal burning your house down, as the ZF profile is not my work.

PS. That ZF tip will give zero fucks when landing in dense 3D, or straight lining chop. When I first saw the design, was worried it was a hair high, til I saw the flex. Giggity.
Oh man, the tip flex will give ZERO fucks. It is so good! The flex pattern of the entire ski is glorious. Tail is supported yet not overly stiff. Underfoot is the kill zone.
