Just put on my big boy pants and joined the C132 club. Fuck yeah! Now I can be one of the cool kids.

A huge round of applause from little me in little old NZ.

Marshall, this is an incredible project, and I wish you all the best. In a perfect world I'd order:
    - R87 50/50 for corn touring
    - R99 50/50 for travelling
    - R99 Comp for low tide club fields
    - R120 Comp for soft snow smashing
    - FL113 for the hell of it

    All the best!

If that’s “micro rocker” I’m loving it.

The website didn’t lead me to that tip rocker. The side profiles looked way more old school.

    I retract my previous statements.

    That is looking good.
I love my Monster 98s, but always thought they missed that little bit of Pro Rider rocker. How would I bend them in a controlled fashion?

Heat the shovels up with a heat gun on the topsheet until they are almost too hot to touch, stick the shovels through a ladder or a pallet, bend away.

You can practice when the skis are room temp to get a sense of how they will flex and where you want to place the rungs of the ladder to bend the shovels where you want. This also lets you test your ladder jig for stability. Pad the rungs with towels.

    FL113 vs R120

Hi Marshal/arlid, what are the main differences between the FL113 (both lengths) and the R120? Is one more powder specific than the other? My only ski atm is a 184 Völkl Mantra 102 and I'm looking to compliment it with something that does better in deep/heavy chop (edit: I'm 6'1/170-lbs).

Caveat: to me, both models are sort of theoretical, so my answers will reflect that, and as the sort-of-designer of the 113s' shape, I'm super biased.

    1) both 113s will be longer, but as for float, the surface area of the r120s will make up for that, and will probably be a more sensible powder specific tool. I think Marshal nailed it in the description of the (FL) 113s; made for going fast in any and all snow conditions.

    2) the 120s have titanal, so will be quite heavy, making chop a negligible thing. However, the more pin tailed (and straight) nature of the 113s will allow them to be quite calm as well.

In my case, my quiver as of january '23 will be

182 r87s (comp build), for early season, hauling ass on ice, etc.
187 Down Sd105s, for general hauling ass when it hasn't snowed for quite a while.
194 FL113s, for hauling ass in fresh(ish) snow and chop
190 FR132s, for hauling ass and sliding sideways in super deep unicorn snow.
187 C113s, for relatively seeing hauling ass while touring.

This would be for Northern Norway. 5'9",200lbs. Like to ski fast, am pretty strong, but not very technical.

Your stats and location may differ, but seeing as you have a 105ish charger, which probably handles everything really well, your situation is likely not too far off mine.

I've just figured out that for the majority of my skiing, 113mm at the waist is enough. May or may not be for you.

    Happy choosing time!

Thanks, I guess what I'm really trying to decide is if the FL113 will have too much overlap in soft-ish snow with the M102 and/or the R120 will leave too much of a gap in the quiver.

One thing I forgot to add to the previous post is that I also like skiing moguls/trees between runs down the alpine. The listed specs suggest the FL113 would be easier to throw sideways in deeper/heavier snow, but I'm not sure by how much given the R120's platform/flat-ish camber.

Mainly Whistler/Blackcomb. Runs I enjoy include Saudan, Monday's, most of the Spanky's area, Gun Barrels, Outer Limits, and the Garbanzo lift line.

This is all hypothetical, but my gut tells me I’d rather have the R120 above tree line and the FL113 below it.

    yup!

my .02 is that I will use R120 for bell-to-bell pow days, where you not only want to surf around a bit the first few laps, but charge broken snow, and are happy with a 185cm length as you get into trees and chutes.

the FL113, for me, is more about anything from wind buff to spring snow, cream, soft, etc. an “every day freeride” use, that is still great in soft untracked snow.

I’d probably want a 10x to compliment the R120, where the FL113 (for me and where I live), is more a daily driver and having like 87-99 firmer snow ski to compliment … if that is helpful?!?

I've been arguing for either the OG120 or more of a pintail.

But in the spirit of supporting innovation and diversity, I've ordered a pair of the 194 C113.

What bindings do I want for R87s that will make me look cool in the lift line and also allow me to lend out to curious kooks (So no pivots )?

I ordered my R87s noting that if they "accidentally" came in the R120 pink top sheet, that would be okay.
