Carbon one thirteens. One nighties length. Pivots and performance boots. They fucking kill corn. Super fun.

I did an inbounds day on my 187 C113 early this season to familiarize myself with them faster. Of course telepathic and in the trees with 6-12” to work with, but really punched above their weight getting to and from (mostly chop on top of ice moguls). The softer flex with this shape and rocker was magic for carrying way too much speed through funky bumps and gapping without regards for landings. Forgiving but completely predictable and able to scrub at any time. All on touring boots and pins.

Thought if these had an extra 500g at a similar flex would be money. Makes the new 116 look very appealing.

At best, I had 10" of corn on refreeze today. Flex was money! I made a conscious effort to try seeing how much of an effect alpine binders and thick ass Alpine boots would have on the overall performance in this shape (bear in mind, I dailied the FL113s for two seasons, same length). Or, how much central weight mattered in the overall feel of a ski setup.

Two seasons ago, they were mounted with atk fr14s, skied with lupo pros. Now, pivot 18s and wcr140s. The latter should be an overkill setup for the flex and build of the ski, but weirdly not. The punch through in heavy chop is still a different animal with these vs the FL113s, but I'll venture to say as much that these are better in pow, both due to the flex, but as much due to their lightness. Just quicker.

Bottom line; you need evenly distributed weight along the entire length of the ski to actually achieve dampness, but as for decisive action, you, the skier not giving a rat's ass about feedback and just trucking through, the skis will get you exactly where you want. This is a bit self gratifying, since I had a heavy hand in the shaping, but the shape truly delivers. What's more, the extra spice of the carbon pop is seriously fun. Just pop off anything.

You and MO did a fantastic job. Shape just begs for speed, but never punishes in this construction. Fastest skis I have ever put ATKs on by far!

MO - would you terribly mind creating an "all skis" page on the web page? I am getting tired of having to choose between all the sub-categories when looking at the skis - big problems I know

Bringing Back The Best: Lotii And Other Assorted Love Songs

In the middle of my first day on the FL116SE (for those without a degree in HL nomenclature, this is the full reverse / easy going version)

Going to wait a few days until I make up my mind, and conditions are pretty marginal for this ski today, but….

The FL116SE is a mix of a Volkl One and a 186 Bodacious, with a slightly more modern mount point. Which is a good thing

    Change my mind
