Nothing as cool as mags fishing for dinosaurs, but I'm taking my girlfriend to the winds for a quick backpacking mission to Cirque of the Towers. I asked her if she was cool if I brought a rod and fished and she said only if I taught her. Last year we had incredible dry fly action up there, I'm stoked to go back. Wish me luck!

No kidding about the dry fly action up there. Probably half of the trout I’ve ever caught came from two weeks of fishing in the winds. Doesn’t matter what you throw, those little fuckers are all over it. That’ll be a blast.

Looks like you two had quite the adventure with a small drift boat, gigantic net and huge flies. Glad everyone had fun and kept their fingers and toes.

That first one was huge. There are sturgeon in there, but the fins were wrong for a sturgeon, and correct for a Musky.

Nort woods stoke! I want a musky trip. Went and saw some new to me water. Big dams, big water, and good ol Walter. Buddy adopted his sister's girls and is raising them right! (Saw maybe 8 boats in 2 days on labor day weekend) Click image for larger version.

Your drive to your sisters cabin takes you within a mile or two of my island. My little boat may be short on space but always room for Walter.

Took the girlfriend backpacking to the winds for her first backpacking trip/hiking trip/fishing experience/even camping trip ever. Anyone who says that it's a bad idea to take your city-raised girlfriend on a 10 mile backpacking trip is lying. Brought both a tenkara and a 4wt and taught her the joys of sight casting to spooky mountain trout. Excellent dry fly action the entire trip - enough that I was running out of caddis patterns by the end of it.

I can post a full TR later if there's enough interest

Going out on a member/guest stretch of water in Bavaria tomorrow called the Ammer. I’ve heard it’s pretty damn good. Hoping to catch some weight, I’ve been sticking 12 to 16 inch browns all summer but I miss the occasional hog. The river has Huchen too so perhaps??? Pretty good summer on the water. A tad on the warm side middle of August however.

I’d post pictures but I have never figured that out on the TGRs

got my brother-in-law out for his first time in 10 years. He hooked a 20" on a chubby using a 3wt, unbuttoned right before I could net it. He had a blast, though.

snagged this guy on my back cast. If you look closely you can see a 16 dancing caddis nestled around his wing. Released unharmed.

Anyone have any experience with Reyr rods? Interesting concept, and they sound like a great travel rod option.
