Kid catches 43” cobia today and season just happened to open. Yes, I’m terrible with the filet knife.

Rivers are on hold here for a bit. However, plenty of stillwaters nearby to keep your attention.

Swimmy those browns are beautiful! Hope everyone is staying safe up there. I’ll be in the area early July and hoping to get out a bit.

Been out and about closer to home lately…

tgapp: good move getting out with SFB. You will learn an incredible amount hanging out with him. I thought I was a HUGE fly fisherman until I got in a boat with SFB. Dude takes fly fishing to the next level.

There is a backpack we've done the past few years and catch cutthroat that no doubt have never seen a fly.

    The fish are absolutely spectacular.

There is a nice boat in Sandy on utah whitewater classifieds on fbook. Raft, fishing frame and trailer. A couple on ksl. Or you could buy me outta my share of the red rider you floated teh green with. All good options representing multiple price points.

2022 SHITTY FISHING PICTURES AND TALL TALES OF THINGS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN

OP of this thread haz roolz against “hotspotting”, and in this case for very good reason. State DNR website officially says there are no Muskys in River X. But state record size Muskys have been caught in it, but all locals are sworn to secrecy. I spoke to a DNR guy at the boat ramp and he chuckled and said “as long as you locals keep it quiet, we will still officially deny it. But as soon as you guys start posting pics online or in the paper, or putting pics up at the bait shop, you will force us to acknowledge it.”

And the instant it goes on their website hoards of FIB’s from Chicago will show up with jet boats and destroy the place.

So if you read between my lines and look up “River N” on the DNR website, you will have your answer.

River X is about 150 miles long, and only about a 20 mile stretch seem to have Muskys. Fortunately for me, it’s right where I live. We put in about a mile from my island, and took out about 3 miles from my Mom’s. You can check with Djongo about my distance measuring skillz.

They call Muskys “The Fish Of 10,000 Casts”, but I had a violent strike on my 4th cast of the day. Over the course of the day, we sighted roughly 25, had about 15 strikes, had 2 get away (using barbless hooks) and netted that one. Biggest fish I’ve ever caught in my life. By far. Teeth like a piranha. I broke Nick’s 12wt rod in half. Unreal how much fun I had last week.

Hey, speaking of reminiscing, back this spring I took a tour of the old Hardscrabble Ski Area near Rice Lake and posted pics in the Midwest Stoke thread. I was surprised you did not comment on it. I realize now you were over at Euro-BBI when I made that post. Go check it out.

Still some fishable rivers over this way but I've been cruising lakes and reservoirs with Walter. Dead troller battery meant less water covered this day. Walter didn't care.Click image for larger version.
