The best part is that it's a square-taper spindle and "not ideal for any type of off road or light trail riding," and "bearings are not sealed so lube is required." The pedals are plastic garbage you'd find on a Walmart bike.

Really the point is he left the scene of an accident. If he was riding the trail illegally, more issues re liability, but you don’t take off after colliding with someone.

That would be a very interesting defense posture in court. I wonder if a jury would buy it. In Texas and Florida, of course, he could have said he felt threatened, and shoot/shot everyone present.

In this case, I don't think there's anything in the video to suggest assface was in any danger.

I would advise to go to the base of the trail and call the cops and tell them what happened. De-escalating the situation might make sense if people are going to go crazy on you. Notifying the police what took place would certainly counter the he ran away argument.

Same area, another collision today. Both riders in serious condition requiring life flight. Apparently it was two e-bikers colliding head on. Which means one of them was riding up the DH trail.

I’m pretty sure some scenes from my favorite old episode of CHiPS were filmed on that road (er… mountain bike trail.)

My sister lives very close to those trails and I’ve ridden them. There is almost no way you’d be able to stop if you had someone going up the DH trails in an awful lot of spots on those trails. Before even serious XC guys wouldn’t try, these eMoto things are a whole different animal.

So the guy who said it was a head on collision is now saying one rider came up short on a jump and then the guy behind landed on him. So it wasn't a head-on crash, and both were riding downhill. But both were on Giant Reign E-bikes.
