    Let’s play Monopoly!

For those family game nights when everybody seems to be getting along a little too well. Alas, it’s been years since I’ve had any takers.
    focus.

While the rest of us would try for the high rent properties, my brother would amass the ave's at the base of the game- Connecticut, VT, Oriental, Baltic etc and call himself the slumlord

LPT- you can accelerate a game of monopoly by adding stimulus at the beginning- if you start everyone off with 3X or 4X the normal starting money and auction off any properties that go unsold after someone lands on them, the game progresses much faster.

Another thing ridiculous about the game is that there is a significant incentive to get into jail in the later stages of the game. You keep collecting rent, but don't have to risk paying rent to anyone else.

But later in the game, when most of the properties on the board are already owned, the only benefit of moving around the board is the $200 collected by passing Go and the chance of drawing a beneficial card after landing on Chance or Community Chest. If your opponents have houses and hotels, staying in jail can be a great way to avoid them. In jail, you are still collecting rents from your properties and your opponents may need to sell or trade their properties. You get the benefits without the risks.

Ah yes we’re less than a page in and already fighting about the rules. Just as Monopoly intended.

My 7 year old asked to learn during the pandemic and now he loves it. Took him to Biltmore last year and said, see son this is how you do it.

So....rather than build hotels, you drill for oil, frack, and log the parks bare?

Imagine a TGR edition where you could buy slopeside condos at Breckenridge, or 52 acres of neglected farmland in Londonderry, VT. Then instead of landing in jail, you hired fastfred to do a kitchen reno and went over budget by $250K.

Edit: speaking of, where the hell is fred?

I hope the player pieces are a Cruise America rental RV, a Honda Goldwing, a family minivan, a tour bus, and a GOTOS Tacoma.
