A few of us had and epic Rax demo at Magic prob 10(?) years ago. I recall Tom getting booted for poaching Red Line.

No, there is no backseat necessary for raxing!
Let me draw a square, parallel to ski. Look at the result:
The skier is standing perpendicular to his ski.
And he must lift ski tips when dropping in such deep and steep snow.
Otherwise is he risking a breakneck leap (salto mortale).

Not me, Bottleman! We should thank the grandfather of all Rax babies.
His name was "Firngleiter", lived in Tirol/Austria in 1950`s and 1960`s.
Some people called him simply "Figl". His hobby was ripping spring snow
called "Firn" in steep gorges.
Just like "Raxing Steep Mountains" but without any rear fins
to keep the track.
Neverthe less he loved Easter skiing like this scene

Is this a one-Rax-fits-all thing, or would those of us with huge feet require a longer version?

Rax model "Steep Mountain" exists in several variations: the length/width of ski, the size and position of rear fins, the angle between ski base and the tail holding the fins, etc.
All these parameters determine the behaviour of ski in a specific snow art, steepnes
and the overall quality of the terrain.
But the size of your feet or the weight of your body will have no influence
on your performance in a steep couloir.

Not claiming to have invented anything here. But we did this back in the 1980's. You can tell by the kit.
The control in steeps with the " fifth edge" was amazing.
The new version is highly refined to be sure. But at least when we did it, there weren't snow blades, so people didn't hate on you.

The tip deflectors and the Parablocks speak to the era. The Look Red Springs? Well of course, the forward facing brakes were non functional, but binding release was pretty low on the list of concerns.

Welcome to new sport: Raxing steep mountains
I didn’t learn German, language is hard, LOL. Took 5 semesters in college and a summer study abroad in Wuerzburg kinda near Frankfurt AM in an attempt to learn it. Lived in Stuttgart for 18 months about 15 years ago also.
Visited Innsbruck with my mom and sis and skied Soelden once.
But as you said… back to the part about the steeps!!!

Ok, Jong, let`s talk about steeps
As everybody knows, steep lines can be extremely dangerous.
But they are the only alternative to flat groomers, the boring pistes.
Having carved thousand turns of the same radius every day
you are looking for something else.
This "something" must not be dangerous!
You can imagine short but very steep slopes with safe landing platforms between them.
Every ski resort owns such "hidden gems", mostly steep forest barriers and walls.
They can be prepared for "raxing lines" with minimum investment.
This is how our invention "Raxski for Steep Mountains" could change the ski sport
and open the wonderful world of freeriding to everybody.
