Thanks folks. And thanks again to Frush and others for all of their shots. Hopefully the latest refresh today will extend things a bit and we'll see some great from you guys when you hit it late April.
Yeah Toby, We went in from lundy, starting from the west side of the lake. From the Satellite images, we wern't sure any of the gulleys to Exesior went, so we went from below with a backup to go to Tioga crest if they didn't go. I'm not sure the way we went would still go in a week or two. The choke point that we went up had a ~20ft section that had some sugary snow and rocks underneath it. I'd have to think that will be gone soon. There is also a narrow chute that might go as well (see pics below). If you do it as a shuttle from Vlakes (which is plowed close enough already), just make sure to study the maps to know which gully/chute will get you back to lundy. Serious rockfall danger in those gully's. A briefcase sized rock missed us by a ski length on our descent. Great seeing ya again on Crater. Cute dog
We went up the chockpoint in between the rocks. This will melt out soon:
Another potential option is to go right up this narrow chute.

Anyone ventured up Virginia Lakes today/yesterday and willing to share some beta? Thinking about checking it out tomorrow morning.
EDIT: Bridgeport Avalanche Center Facebook page has some recent trip/conditions reports.Last edited by GKWood; 04-02-2022 at 09:43 PM.

Hit South Peak yesterday morning. Was very enjoyable. Conditions varied from corn to leftover fresh snow from earlier this week, but all was soft and enjoyable. There were numerous parties about but nobody in our midst. Saw groups on Olsen, Dunderberg, & Red Lake Bowl. Lower section of Dunderberg is cooked and probably won't be skiable within a couple of days. The view into Lundy from the top of South looked grim. Some decent coverage upper canyon on Dore & Excelsior but access from Lundy would be a nightmare. Hoping we can get up to Saddlebag soon as that whole zone appears to be well stacked.

Ha, I left early this morning so didn't see this in time, but ended up hitting the exact same line! I have a picture that's pretty exactly the same as your first one; epic view. Definitely variable snow. Up top was a bit funky, middle was quite good but a bit tracked out. The bottom ended up skiing best actually. The high clouds seemed to have toned down the sun a bit so it didn't get as mushy as I'd expected. First time in this zone but will definitely be back.

prior to these recent storms they had reached the eastern gate but the road was still closed to deal with previous and potential rockfall

I'm thinking of skiing some couloirs of Dana plateau Saturday.
Hopefully there will be enough snow to skin up 120 to elery.
Or if not, ebike up.

Anyone have any recent pics or beta from the Virginia lakes area? How's coverage after all the new snow?

Road's clear again. Minimal snow in parking area. North facing riding great. South and West are burnt out.

Has anyone skied the north facing couloirs of Dana plateau or the north peak main couloir recently?
I'm wondering if the snow softens up enough.
Thinking of skiing on Tuesday, looks like the temps don't quite teach 40 at 11+k.
Thank you
