Great fall, but can't wait to be on snow. Quick trip to Ventura this weekend then I guess we'll be coming back to white on Sunday?

The drive on 82 was harrowing this AM. Be extra careful out there today.

Yeah, pretty spicy out there. I spied a Silverado that had driven off Brush Creek onto the bike path at 7:30. When I got back to school I saw this guy's Grand Cherokee laying sideways up us above on Castle Creek. I drove up and helped him until the Sheriff arrived; his tires were shit and he'd just started a job up at the Cookhouse... He said he was coming downhill, slowly, but spun a 360 and slid into the uphill ditch. He was lucky, as the other side drops ~50ft very steeply down to asphalt.

Did you recommend to him the tire thread here?

Had to go to Junction this AM. Left Snowmass Village at 6am and the stretch from Basalt down to Glenwood was some of the sketchiest driving I've done in my 23 years in CO. It did not pay to be headed in the opposite direction of traffic this morning.

I should have; we had enough time standing around to get through most of that thread! But I did kinda rub salt in the wound when I pointed out the white threads of the inner liner visible from his inside tread, as the Jeep lay on it's side

I did engage with the "All Weather" Tires In Place Of Winter Tires" with a coworker after I got back to my desk. She's been in the valley for ~15 years, sans snow tires...

I padded up and broke out the FATe.

I passed the Silverado on the way down and he’d blown his all season tire off the rim as he spun onto the bike path. A hung over Mex was changing the tire on my return.

Last year was slightly below average on precipitation. But we got hit with storms every time we needed it and I had a great season. I’ll take this average season for twenty more years please.
220 lift served days on my pass, 143 on skis, 77 on the bike.

We’ve got another foot this morning and I’m hearing a November 18th opening. Time for a new thread!

If anyone makes some turns let us know how it goes! I know the first snow frenzy is usually futile but this has been a shit ton of snow

My wife was commuting up to the hospital at that time and said the same thing.

I'm trying to get to a good place by lunchtime with work to head up. I was thinking the patch above Merrygoround that usually skis well with this much snow.

I imagine up there it’ll be good, it’s mainly the rest of the way down to the bottom that sounds spicy

I’m in no hurry. But if I was trying to ski today. I’d drive up to either the Divide Lot or Top of Wood Road.

They laid a new electrical cable on the skiers right of Slot, it’s smoothed out and covered with straw.

Where they laid the snowmaking pipe last year on Lunkerville is the same.

Yeah that should be good. I might just try some Tiehack. Just saw a few groups going up.

GoGo was already getting the goods at Highlands yesterday

    BTW,
I ended up skiing Snowmass. They were giving warnings for being parked at the top of wood road. We snuck up above that some to the 'lot'. Skinned up below Alpine Springs and the coverage was surprisingly good. We usually go ski showcase this time of year but we didn't even have to get up that high. The snow was pretty heavy and will be tough in a days time, but man I hope they cat pack everything... not that they have that much staff on right now.

If you keep going onto the Elk Camp work road, there's a legal parking lot, just before the gate.

I know it's where I'd park for years accessing summery stuff like gov't etc.. and it's open right now, just be careful in and out, it's muddy and/or icy.

Snuck out for a quick Tiehack lap at 2. Snow was pretty heavy overall and quite settled on the lower half. But skiing is skiing and untracked pow is never bad.

GoGo and Spade skied the bowl and it looks like the upper half at Highlands was real good.

    Time for a 22-23 thread???

I've seen plenty on the socials from the Bowl.

That's a big day up and then out.

    We can keep this rolling
Start a new thread that will roll in perpetuity
    Start another season thread.

    Thoughts?
