Nervous what will happen to pinkbike. I've loved the entertainment of kids hating on each other on there since the early 2000s and articles on lesser known bikes and brands. Now it seems to be turning into just another pay advertising dollars for us to talk about your bikes and components and nobody be mean in the comments.

This.
The fucking skis showing in the background while they filmed in the lobster boat... Then pulling the pot/boiled/cracked/gobbled it up, then flashed back to skiing at Sugarbush 200mi away was all absurd.
I also enjoyed the generic, unnamed snowboarders providing generic b-roll footage around canada in unnamed places. ???

You know who is a sort of savant at this? Harvey44. Apparently SEO is all about finding a niche angle and addressing it. For instance, for people who search “alligator snapping turtle New York” my dopey story ranks third.

try watching more than 3 or 4 WM movies, maybe some older ones, jong
if it wasn't for WM, there'd be no Stump. MSP, TGR...
there's no money in ski porn ion the big screen, whore it out so it can keep going
I didn't buy into the Outside+ BS, first year without a big thick glossy mag I never read. Now it's all in the latest Ski Mag and it sucks, it's hard to make a sucky mag suck even harder
Once WM sold the Co, it has been a bumpy ride

I will argue that discerning consumers have and will seek out, and pay for, high-quality content. I may be biased as I put myself in this market segment. Further, I would say quality content should deserve the paywall or paid subscription it seeks. The current media landscape of shitty, biased (to their market), fractured content only further validates the need for quality, paid content.
Outside ain't it.

Those are called long tail searches, and they're generally where the money is if you're selling a product. The more detailed the search query is that matches what you're selling, the more likely they are a buyer. Also they can be, but not always, less expensive to bid on as a search term if you're playing the adwords game.

12-06-2021, 09:24 PM #59Hey d-bag - here's something for you to think about: maybe (just maybe) not everybody here has their little panties in a wad 24/7 and flies into a rage whenever somebody disagrees with them. Maybe these same mags don't take this place uber-seriously. Maybe this even includes the vast majority of the people who post here as opposed to you and like 20 other thin-skinned douchebags. Just something to think about. -JER

I pay for trailforks subscription and have an initial lifetime gaia, but had missed all the acquisitions that happened. Explains all the Outside Mag type spam emails I got last year. I typically don't like acquisitions, but did notice something that might be a useful new feature in the gaia letter from the VP:
Over the coming year, we’re excited to bring you our biggest, boldest innovations to date. We’ve kicked off 2022 by unveiling the brand new Trailforks MTB map overlay. You can now access all 361,392 curated mountain bike trails from Trailforks right in Gaia GPS.
