UAN, beautiful shots (as always!)
is that turkey chute I spy? did you exit down avalanche or head back up and exit down 25 short?
exiting down avalanche in november a few years back was one of the most "character building" experiences of my life.

Granted I'm a noob that just got started here 8 years ago, spot on. Utterly depressing, I just end up spending less and less time at the village, and for other reasons might not stick around for too much longer. Sad days when I realized it would be a lot easier and less costly to be a tourist but I guess that was probably the goal for them. Sigh.

So do I keep my skis on or take them off for a chondola?!
-

If it is anything like the one in Beaver Creek, there are gondola cars every 4 or so chairs. You have to take your skis off to ride the gondola, but there is another line for people who want to ride the chair like a usual lift.
It is an invention that exists to get non-skiers to the on mountain "dining experience".

I left 20 years ago because I thought skiing the Vill felt like a giant a rat race and the stresses trying to make ends meet was just too much. There's a whole world outside of that valley and there's some great ski areas that still aren't crowded, where you can sleep in and not feel worried about getting a good line or you're going to miss out on something. Some folks love and thrive on that sort of atmosphere I bet but I'm not one of them. I grew up in NY/NJ and the whole time growing up as a kid dreamed of escaping the urban/suburban consumer based lifestyle to go to a powder skiing utopia where I could live the simple life and ski untracked, stress free powder. That last season in Jackson I realized that I recreated everything I wanted to get away from.
It's a great mountain and a beautiful valley for wealthy people. Good for them but I'd rather spend time somewhere that's not so intense, especially at this age.dirtbag, not a dentist

You make perfectly valid points, completely in agreement. Alas, I couldn't break out early enough.
Your decision to leave when you did was maybe a great one. Seriously.
I'll suffer for staying, prolly sooner than later. But it's been a great ride for me.
At this point I've mostly trained myself to ignore the many things that I find unappealing.

JACKSON '21-'22 ~~ w/the 'Ghee, the King, The KC, the Creek and the Passes
Living vicariously through the live Targhee base webcam. Looks like a solid ~4” at the base, they’re reporting 8” in the last 24hrs which I don’t doubt up high.
Hope some mags are out gettin sum

it was fun mini-pow today, but I wouldn't say you missed anything epic
Fun meadow skipping but with a decent, dense base so the lower snow levels worked out ok but you still definitely had to be light on the feet

nonexistent crowds too.
I skied 2 or 3 runs with Kevo before he asked about my BBIJH sticker and we realized we were already "internet friends" lol
EoB- Holler if you will be up this long w/e and want to ski- we will probably try to get out for at least a couple hours every day through sunday.
and of course that goes for any of you other foo’s who will be out over the long w/eLast edited by babybear; 11-24-2021 at 06:24 PM.

Today was a really fun day at the Ghee. I'd put it squarely in the "better than expected" bucket.
My first turns of the season were pow turns.
NW facing terrain had some pretty darn good snow for the first couple hours.
South facing stuff is manageable up high, but the lower TVT is a mess as of the end of the day. It's somewhere between gravel road and ski run...
Great to run into you and spin some laps together, babybear! So funny to find out you who you were at the end of our last run. Definitely hit me up next time you're on this side.

What up everyone. I hope those Tetons get filled in deep this season. I am coming in just after the new year for 2 weeks. I am looking to hook up with anyone who might want to rip both inside the resort and out. Definitely not my first time to town. I am staying In town but want to explore more this trip. Should I bring my snow machine? Never been out in Idaho before but I hear things that can’t be discussed and it makes me curious.

Thanks! I deeply appreciate the compliment. I put thought and effort into them, but I'm just an amateur/lover of skiing.
Not quite!, but we did pause at the bottom to appreciate how lucky we were that our "Wednesday" would have been the best run of many peoples' lives. It's not lost on us.
Hah!
Happy skiers are the ones I like to ski with!

I didn't take any interesting pics Sat or Sun...
