41" in the last 4 days.

And minimal lift lines. I am spinning in circles down here.

It's like being tied to the whipping post...

And from afar, it seems like the liftlines are waaaaay shorter this holiday season than the last 2 years combined.
It’s unbelievable, really. I’ve riden the tram like 5x more than I did all last season and it just opened last week. Walk ons, wind buff creamy bowl, stashes in trees, limited terrain but wowww barely any lift lines for this time of year. Glad I stayed in town. But lots of jerry, saw a snowboarder leaf down the bowl and tourists falling down tower tree, people walking up traverses, literally falling into closed terrain and mountain hosts trying to get them back up. And tons of people carrying skis and snowboards riding the tram back down. At least they download instead of tomahawk down the bowl. But yeah, maybe early low tide + omicron scared people off?

Just came from Teton Orthopedics, Frosty said this was the quietest Monday after Christmas in 20 years. FWIW.

Add to the list people around here blacked out their pass this year too. Plus some property managers said they had cancellations for Tahoe where it was dumping. Bad traffic on village road at 4 tho still

I wonder if the number of cancelled flights are keeping the numbers down. I was hoping to get out this week, but don’t think it will happen.
Friend of mine that works in the village just texted me this…

Great Jerry of the Day here at Jackson today
Teenage kid with GoPro had hand warmers duck taped to the GoPro to keep it warm

That might keep it just a bit warmer for a while!

Interesting all of the perfectly viable reasons for the low skier count.

I wanna believe it's because I'm taking one for the team but in the real world I don't care. Any turn of the tide in comparison to the last 2 seasons is a good thing.
I'd sure like to see the increasing magnitude ratchet back just to know it's not a destiny of crapshows from here to eternity.

I am stoked for you all and might suggest you get after it, days like these are sometimes years apart.

Ski hard my friends and make it home for dinner. Be careful in that early snowpack set up.

    They are.

Noticeably less busy in the backcountry this week also. Saw no one today.

I skied the last hour at Targhee today and almost no one was out. Pretty great snow and maybe 1/2 of the chairs had someone on them.

Outstanding work mag. Which way did you end up going? was it sketchballs or ok?

Did they give you a prius with summer tires?

Went through Ennis and Ashton - gave us a Forester and we’re used to driving up to Tahoe in snow so we were pretty confident we’d make it by being patient. That said, there were plenty of drifts and some parts with near zero vis. Just took our time - took about 5:45.

Will prolly be at Mangy Moose with my 15 y/o daughter for apres; black jacket, blue pants, receding hair. If you’re there, ask for change for a nickel and we’ll share a brew.

We drove in last night up from the south. Had to dead stop with another car outside of pinedale in something close to a whiteout for 15 minutes. Got through it when it let up just a little and we had our passengers as spotters on all sides looking for road edges. 2 other cars that had stopped ended up tucked in behind me using us as a navigator. Very sketch. Very fun.

Slow, cold start today, but happy to be here. See some of you soon hopefully.

JACKSON '21-'22 ~~ w/the 'Ghee, the King, The KC, the Creek and the Passes

Oh yeah - if anyone is out there today we are fairly easy to find. I’m in bright yellow pants and a royal blue jacket. My son is in maroon pants and bright blue helmet - and he is almost always hucking himself off shit. Both of us usually on ON3Ps. Wife and daughter will be there too but they are in more fashionable, reserved color shades…unlike us idiots.

    Ask for change…

That's how it was almost every afternoon last weekend. Its a real treat to be able to ski from opening bell to noon... then take a break in the teewinot... and head out again to close the lifts down. All the while knowing that there'll be plenty of greatness waiting in the afternoon.

Village skiing soft and chalky. Still lots of lurkers. But really nice run down south colter ridge to close it out this afternoon. Only hit two rocks near the bottom. Hobacks should be any day now. Unless you all tasted then already.

Note worthy: about half of the lifts were shut down today...the other half ran on reserve power. On hill food was mostly closed.
Electrical issue withing the resort's system. Guys working at large metal boxes still looked befudled at days end.
