    Gorgeous perfect one and done at Targhee this morning. I like it better up there when the lifts aren't running. Balances out last week's breakable crust adventure.

    Thanks for the kind words. Hoping I “inspire” more than “win.”

    I think this was the best April I can remember (snow quality, cold/wintry/untracked lines). Usually some “hot pow” in April that turns to mush pretty fast.

    More to come.

    Been a pretty good season... so far.

    Things are winding down. Maybe a few more good days left. My season began October 31st. Hasn't been bad for a "low snow year."

    Always nice to capture a REAL pro behind the lens — and a phenomenal skier!

    Ya I might be done for a while, unless it starts freezing at night. This morning's Glory run turned to mush too fast. Still plenty of snow up high though.

    Word from today was that Targhee was surprisingly good mid-day.... good energy in the snow.

    That said... freshly waxed skis = recommended!

    I'm thinking a morning Pass mission might be good. The abandoned-car-as-snow-stake has been a pretty good barometer.

    I just sprung for a big ole bar of yellow wax.

    And yeah, wtf is up with that car? Any other time it would have been towed in under 24 hours...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Man, springtime in the Hole is always so nice for the animals.
    A few days ago, en route to the villy, I see two birds going at each other in flight near the Calico.
    It's a Bald eagle harassing the the local Osprey. Osprey bringing home a trout and the eagle reallly getting after him.
    They're doing all sorts of acrobatics and evasion maneuvers about 50' above the deck. I see the momma osprey circling these two as well from 100' away.
    Eventually the fish gets dropped and they're behind me now. A little to the left and it woulda landed on my hood.
    TONS of redtail hawks out hunting right now too. Fenceposts are full of scoping eyes.
    Working north of town by the airport, yesterday my client says they had quite the show the evening before.
    The 30 elk herd milling about her property all of a sudden bunch together, looking around.
    Next thing, she sees Grizzly 399 and 4 cubs eyeballing the elk.
    They shift around, the bears move around.
    Apparently the cubs kept giving them away. Every time mom would get close, up stands a cub and away the elk go.
    They took about a half mile lap between Trap club and Zenith roads, giving the peeps quite the show.
    I think I've seen at least 20 Trumpeter swans in the past 2 weeks. Heard a few cranes clattering around up high too.
    Sure is nice when town is quiet. Gonna be an extra dose of shitshow this summer, what with the Moose-Wilson road closed for paving. Daily line of cars at evening rush hour should get out to Moose at some point. Cops and Deputies will do nothing, I'm certain.
    I like it! I hope it is there year-round.... and perhaps that someone dusts it off once a day. It's a good visual for me! ;-)
    I said I was done but I lied. One more Targhee lap with 5" of new, a lovely untracked line north towards Blackfoot. . Got sticky quick though.
    So far my best wildlife sightings have been on that road: yearling moose, mountain lion, and today a fox. Most fun part of the day is watching Lucky Dog enjoy the snow.
    Much respect for milking all the winter nature has seen fit to give us this season!
    Thank you! Things seemed pretty quiet here... as if everyone's moved on. Trailheads and parking lots reflect that, too. I noticed other regions' threads are still active.
    Got back out there today for some more. Actively snowing up high... rain in town.
    Howdy - anyone got any line of sight to the Winds here? Have next week off and flipping a coin between HCNF and the Winds (Gannett / Fremont). Thanks in advance!
    I still think an old school pop up book of your photos would be rad. The kind where you can pull the tab and the skier goes back and forth
    where are JH folks getting their internet service?
    currently with Spectrum, thinking about cutting the cable TV cord. Wondering if I should stick with Spectrum for internet, or if folks might have better experience/speed/pricing elsewhere.
