Eat like your Grandpa - Tinned fish and potted meat appreciation…
I don’t think I’m alone in my love for canned, smokey, salty, oily animal protein…
What do you like?
Current quiver:
Anything from Matiz is good although there are nicer Spanish Conservas. I like the lemon sardines on saltines.
Wildfish Cannery from Klawok AK is $$$. The smoked salmon makes a perfect dip with cream cheese, capers, green onion, dill, lemon.
I haven’t tried that yellow Korean can of kimchi flavored tuna I picked up from HMart, but my gut tells me it’s good.
Ekone is great for the local smoked shellfish
Spam of course… I prefer low sodium version… testing the bacon spam shortly….

Matiz sardines w/pepper.
buttahflake’s meat has been dry aged for so long smoking would be pointless.

These are great. The Matiz stuff is better, but not good enough to justify costing 4x more.
These are also great. The Asian market near me used to carry them for $1.50/can, but sadly they haven't stocked them for over year so they're probably not coming back. Available on Amazon but at about double the price of the TJs cans.

I'm definitely a big fan of this thread. The Matiz stuff is great, so are the Patagonia Provisions. I also like the tuna from spain in the little glass jars. I've got a couple cans of questionable canned crab that I picked up at an asian grocery 4 years ago that I haven't had the courage to try yet. We shall see. I've got some other random fish shit in cans too.
