Smoked oysters used to be a staple of my field lunches, and memories as a kid of the little crystal bowl hors d'oeuvre with the stack of toothpicks at extended family xmas parties.
I decided that eating a filter feeding mollusk harvested from the south china sea probably wasn't wise. Wish there was a brand available locally that is produced from less polluted waters.

This thread reminds me that I need to get back to eating foods like this.
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy

Despite my distaste for Amazon/Bezos our Whole Foods here gets decent sardines (previously frozen...) occasionally during the summer. An excellent treat and only $10/lb.
My family has commercially fished Bristol since the early 50s and I love fresh fish, but canned/salt fish are massively important worldwide and have some close ties for me: My family also had a cod fishing/salt cod business in Råkvåg, Norway in the 1700-1900s: https://goo.gl/maps/BmmznshE9DabtsRC8 And my MIL worked at a cannery in AK back in the 70s with some girlfriends for a few summers.
The mud slingers on this thread are funny, chasing tails on an esoteric food thread... I would be willing to bet that few, if any tin fans posting on here are eating more than 5-10 tins per year.

I love it. Sardines, smoked oysters, anchovies. I fucking love anchovies. Can eat a can plain. Love to make a big Caesar salad and then put a bunch of chopped anchovies on top.
I do get a kick out of the mags that see a thread title with the word "appreciation" in it and then, think, "I'm going in and shitting all over this thread!"
