They are pretty good, especially at $10 for a six-pack. My only gripe is that there's no bone-in/skin-on variety. The skin, bones and guts are half the point of eating sardines. I wish you could buy them with the heads still on.

I legitimately loved Spam. Growing up we would eat it fried in white bread sandwiches and it was one of my favorite meals. We didn't even eat sliced white bread in general, but we did with Spam for some reason. I don't eat it now as I'm a vegetarian, but I would cook it for myself as an adult and it was just as good. I know it's on the list of things people find disgusting, but fried Spam is delicious in my mind.

Went to the grocery to get some other things but this thread motivated me. Included the bachans in the image because it’s delicious.

When we couldn’t afford it, it was just mayonnaise and ketchup sandies.
That's what I ate as a kid too. Underwood.

Interesting. I've heard of bonito flakes but wasn't familiar with the origin or the process.

That's all from harmons?? I know the BBQ sauce is - I buy the 'regular' kind of that brand for chicken wings and use it on rice instead of soy sauce sometimes.

I was motivated from this thread too and went to Sage Market and bought some mackerel and sardines from Japan. Ate the sardines, I was actually scared for the first bite - but it just tasted like the soy sauce it was soaking in. Phew! Threw it in some fancy instant ramen and I guess it was a decent meal? Bone fragments were not pleasant though.

Got tired of the dickheads at the great divide mooching lunch off me in the ‘80s soon started bringing smoked oysters and sardines. Never a problem after that.

Yep, brickyard. Good prices on the Patagonia mackerel. They only had the GF banchans, haven’t broke it out yet but hopefully it’s the same as the OG.

You animals would love a polish Xmas dinner. No meat and everything else is pickled and salted. Last year I had Ntothe5th shots of vodka and built the Ultimate. Rye biscuit, layer of foie gras, pickled herring, dollop of cream cheese, with a caper topper. Side of Sałatka Jarzynowa.

That's definitely the stuff for hash. Fancy "gourmet" hash always blows. Always.

Unfortunately it only comes in a six pack. Good news is it probably has unlimited shelf life.

I think it’s way better than the Hormel stuff. Frozen potatoes O’Brien mixed with corned beef. Topped with a couple over medium eggs, that’s good living. I like to make it in the oven, it’s more crispy.
