I've been to Cortina once when I was probably 16. If memory serves me right don't you have to take a tram from town up to the bottom of the ski slopes?

Seems like a lot of logistics for the Olympics.

Will they shut down the whole resort, or just portions?

Athletes, judges, support staff will be fighting for / sharing boxes with the public?

Well, they have World Cup races there a lot, so, nothing new. And, I think other nearby mountains are getting some action. I think I read that Milan, believe it or not, is getting indoor stuff.

How about Olympics at KMart sometime in the future? They have WC events there fairly regularly. Tons of snow making infrastructure. Just get some ice rinks and a hockey stadium and they're good to go right?

I figured, but as someone who cut their pre-pubescent teeth skiing Whiteface, I think it's fucking awesome that the only place in the United States to host two Olympics is in Upstate New York.

I have no beef with ORDA. Whiteface is a great venue for the ski events, and it actually snows in the town of Lake Placid. When was the last Winter Olympics where it actually snowed in the host city? Torino? Salt Lake?

I’m sure there’s some irony buried in all this given the origins of Covid that we are not allowed to point out, and the shit show that the Olympics have become as a result thereof coming home to literally roost, but I’m sure someone would get their panties in a wad if you did.

earlier Bryce MF Bennett clocked the top speed at Wengen at 151km per hour.

    that's more than 93 MPH

90+ MILES PER HOUR ON SKIS...

think top speed ever in competition is on that same hill a few years back around 95
came in 7th, clinched his Olympic spot.

    Squawlywood represent

They were hitting 85 in the Super G and getting 100' off one of the jumps... which may be scarier.

    Yeah.. 90mph is freaking fast...

    That's insane.

So much great skiing going on right now between the speed teams (Mikaela getting the slalom record, 2 DHs at Wengen) and freestyle teams (Intermountain moguls) that I can't see cause NBC put them all on some fucking streaming channel that no one will buy.
